Lotsa problems

Before everyone chews my head off and regurgitates it back onto my shoulders....I have thouroughly read miles of threads before posting this. I've been looking through the Emu forums for three days now and though alot of my concerns were mentioned, they weren't explained and some of my problems aren't mentioned anywhere.
First of all, I just put ever quest on a brand new computer so of course when I patched I got the most recent version. And before anyone tries to kill me for patching, I followed the instructions to the letter, which included PATCH FROM EQLIVE SERVER. So I guess I need to find someway to get the older version? Or is this being worked on so that the newer version will be supported?
Also, in the very first instructions right http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15182 there, it says to alter the 'DataRate.txt' file...I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't have anything by that name.
I have created a login account and at the moment whenever I try to login I crash to desktop, and yes I have read about this problem in the thread listed above. I have dx 9b. I have latest drivers. I'm on win 2000 prof. I'm on broadband cable. I'd reinstal EverQuest but I can't find it..*lmao* and I was hoping there was a less painful solution. Also, I can't test playing on a live server because for some reason EQ has stopped my account. Soooooooo.........I think that's about the extent of it. Any suggestions? =)

oh yea and the forums sometimes decide to not let me log in...something about invalid, inactive or something...and before you say it's case sensitive or I can't type, I wrestled with it for about 5 mins and just said screw it and changed my password. THen it messed up again...so I did it again...so like...ok that's it =D

IMHO, i think it's a eqhost.txt issue. I've messed with it and it's picky with spaces and line returns.

I hope that works but even if it does, the 6/22 patch broke the login for EQ Emu :(

Thanks alot! That helped with crashing to desktop. Now I just hang up on the logging in screen *lol* I'm guessing this is a 6/22 patch problem. Are the EQEmu programers working on this or will I have to contact someone who has an older file? Is it forbiden to ask for it in the first place? If it's forbidden...um...please send a pink pony to oestaira@yahoo.com or jeilonwy@hotmail.com :lol:
Also, I'm still having issues with the forum itself....it's like everytime I come back I have to create a new account because it says it's incorrect, inactive or invalid when I am very precise in typing it and have double checked the e-mail sent to me for user name and password. My comp accepts cookies and I'm only on medium security. Could my firewall be a problem?? SPeaking of firewall...will Emu run udner one? O_o

No clue about the forum issue. If you are hanging after you click log in it is because of the 22nd patch. They are working on a new version the dev's here are always tring to keep up with live afaik. As for the firewall part if you are just tring to play you should be fine. If you are tring to host a server you have to either disable the firewall or forward the ports required. There's a post around here somewhere about what ports eqemu uses.
