Alright, I've been trying for days now and I still get that Bad login/pw message when I use the account I created. eqhost.txt is where it should be, I've remade my account several times, and I still get that message.
I'm not on AOL but I can't seem to re-activ my account, says it dosent exist, but I can login on EQemu.org just fine.. can anyone help?

What ISP/connection are you using.
You need someone elce to re-auth it then log in. after that anyone can log into the account (as long as u have your user/pass)

I'm using IE on a 56k modem connection.
I got a friend to help me re-auth the account, but he got the message account does not exist when he tried, even though I can still log on the forums with that account (this one)

btw, the FORUMS login/password is NOT your EQEmu.org Loginserver login/password.

If you joined the other 35% of the population that reads my readme.txt, you would know :)

is step 3 (setting up mySQL) the login/pw part? if it's not I'm not seeing loginserver registration

no thats not it...
Congrats though!!! you managed to do what 99% of everyone does.. not read CLOSELY :)
3) Run eqw.exe (or the shortcut I told you to make).
4) Click connect and enter your Login and Password for the EQemu Loginserver (You can register one for free at http://eqemu.org/login )
5) Select your server and click "Play EQ"
6)Make your character and when your done click Enter World.

I've read through and re-read throught the readme, gone through and actually done what the directions say multipule times. I've registered the username and password, tried re-authenticating it, tried having a friend re-authenticate it...but i still get a bad username/password. When I go through the directions on running it through minilogin i can actually enter the game and stuff. I made my, mySQL username/password the same as the one I registered here (not the forum one) so as not to get confused. What could I possibly not be doing wrong.

sounds like you didnt setup boot5zones.bat correctly. probably didnt use the right IP or the right bat file for your OS.

Im also having login probs...
just to clarify ive read this whole post and done all of the suggested operations, re-authenticating, getting a friend to re-authenticate etc. Only thing I can think of I might be doing wrong is running the wrong .exe to start...it's "eqw.exe" in my everquest folder im supposed to be running right?.
Anyways, thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer :)

I think i understand what i'm doing wrong now. I tried to reauthenticate it from my room mate's computer which is connected to the same LAN as me. I also didn't run the game from his computer either because he doesn't have everquest. Now my problem is finding someone trustworthy to reauthenticate my account and sign on for me. And no I am not confusing the forum registration with the EQEmu registration.

If your ISP doesnt let you re-auth correctly (AOL is one, PLEASE GIVE US NAMES OF OTHERS THAT DO NOT WORK) then your friends or other computers on the same isp are not gonna work either..
just join the chat room and ask someone there. your EQEmu account isint something that NEEDS to be completely private (not like the password is your credit card number). you should have made it unique when you first made it. if not i feel sorry for you.

my account broke when the devs changed the login server stuff around. so i used old source to build a full login server for my self.
p.s. i was wondering, since my login server works the same as the full one at eqlogin.eqemu.net....where in the source is the decryption for the hash the client sends, or (as i suspect) is it 'magic'....:p

you re-furbished the old loginserver sourcecode so it works now? ewww.. if you did, GRATS.. dont give it out to ANYONE lol (especially a person named Circuit hehe)..

a) The loginserver is NOT opensource. the base for it was given to us for internal use only (Coded by Solar). it was given out many months ago as an experiment and it was a mistake..

If your hacing problems trying to connect to the world at character selection go to eqemu.shownomercy.net.It has a how to guide and tells you how to set everything up.I was having the same problem, but now it's fixed.

Ya know for a message board full of computer gurus you think someone would have the insight to use a proxy when registering and authenticating your account ;)
works perfectly I use aol and internet explorer and just turned on a proxy and it worked.
