You really dont need to know anything about programming unless you are going to compile/edit the source yourself. And if you are gunna do that its pretty basic stuff, i learned it in less then a day.

And does the server computer hafta be good, or does just the internet connection matter?

the better the computer, the less chance for the server you running to crash when there are a few people on it.

You don't really need to know any programming to host a server as long as you use pre-compiled binaries. The quality of the server(s) is dependant on how large of a playerbase you want to attract. The more players you want to be able to allow to play on your server, the better the hardware you'll want(maybe even multiple computers). The internet connection is also dependant on how many players you want to be able to host for.

Check the support sections and the tutorial sections for info on setting up a server, there are some pretty good guides on the forum.

Adaware is poo, spybot S&D is much better, and if you are wililng to pay for a good one, use webroots spysweeper, they have a free trial you can use for a few sweeps. and it gets rid of em all usually.

You have cydoor then. alot of spyware problems won't remove this becuase its vital to running alot of programs in your computer, such programs are things like download accelerators (flashget is reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllll lllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy bad about it). get webroots spysweeper it does a fair job of removing the stuff that really is annoying and only leaves the stuff that pops up when you start the programs with built in spyware.
