Before 0.5.8 was "officially" announced on 9/13, I had downloaded precompiled 0.5.8 binaries. My client was patched with the latest dated file 9/7. World deleted 'invalid characters' etc... Everything worked fine. I could connect to my server, play, etc.

I d/l the source from cvs 9/14, compiled with perl with no errors. I go to log on, and I get a 1017 from the client, and a bad/expired session error in world. After a search, my configuration of a router and using the no-ip.com dns with a modified hosts file (which was fine for 0.5.7-DR 6) apparently would no longer work, per Edgar. OK, np. I decide to just connect directly to my cable modem and play until I decide what I want to do long-term.

I fixed my config files, pointing to my ISP-provided IP instead of my domain and localhost. I did this for loginserver.ini and boot5zones.

Now, world sees my client connect, but the client crashes. I even d/l the precompiled binaries from cvs like 15 minutes ago, with the same result. Does anyone have any insight, or some precompiled binaries from around 9/10-9/12 or so?

Edit: managed to find the binaries from 9/5 (when I d/l'ed them). client still crashes... going to try going back to the last working setup (no-ip.com method)

Edit #2: Problem solved... used winEQ and left the game in windowed mode, so game was starting in windowed mode even w/o winEQ. Used WinEQ to change back to full-screen, and game now works with my compilation of the newest source.
