i get to the login, and it tells me i'm timed out, just a little error box. I've scoured this board and haven't found anything else matching it....could just be blind....

Delete that second login crap, everything after 5996, make sure there is no extra spaces, save and make read only

You have two closing brackets after "LoginServer" on the first line.

Your "eqhost.txt" should look like this:

[LoginServer]
Host=newlogin1.eqemulator.net:5996
Remember to delete any extra spaces at the end of each line. Also get rid of any extra blank lines at the end.

Yeah, I just tried it too and I can't connect. I get a timeout error and it says to look for scheduled downtimes of notwork connection problems. . .

Weird.

Soo. . . I'm a moron.

You need to change the port to 5994 :shock:

Try using the following:

[LoginServer]
Host=newlogin1.eqemulator.net:5994

Well, I guess the first question I should have asked is: what version of EQ Live do you have? Are you patched to current or are you running an "older" version?

You should only use the eqhost.txt I posted above if you have the current version of Live and are trying to play on EQEMu servers running the newest versions.

If you are trying to play on older servers, you will need to have a different eqhost.txt file. Look here (http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17307) for a list of the different files.

Do not make it read only, I always time out when I do this. Just be VERY sure there are no spaces/cariage returns at the ends of any lines. I you have ANY you will get the xp-mitchell crud and it won't work. I gaurantee you still have returns or spaces in file if it is marked read/write and you are getting the timeout problem (assuming you have correct client version).

After getting a timeout I look at my eqhost.txt file and it reads
[LoginServer]
Host=xp-smitchell:7308

I change the Host file to read (I'm using minilogin):
[LoginServer]
127.0.0.1:5999

I run eqgame with the command N:\EQlocal\eqgame.exe patchme
I get a timeout when I try to login
I look at eqhost.txt and it reads:
[LoginServer]
Host=xp-smitchell:7308

I enter the following:
[LoginServer]
Host=127.0.0.1:5999

and it runs fine and the eqhost file does not change. Maybe this info will help.

Something keeps changing it back to that if you dont have the host=
