I'm new to eqemu, and eq altogether. I have an old install cd with the kunark expansion.
I'm curious if I could install that and then patch to download all the updates, which I understand won't play right now?
Once things are fixed, would it be just a small update left to get it working or does it break it so bad that I would have to re-install and patch again?

I figured if it will patch and get 90% of the updates while I can't play, it will be just that much less to do when things are working again.

Thanks in advance.

You can go ahead and patch. Once the emu catches up with live, you won't have to reinstall again. You might have to patch again if there's a new one after you patch and that's the one that the emu is compatible with. It will save you quite a bit of time once everything is fixed....

Thanks. I was thinking of building a server here on the same computer just to tinker with if being unpatched would allow me to connect and play on my local server. It would give me something to do while the patcher is being fixed, if it doesn't require patching to play locally. I had one running a couple years ago, but I don't remember if it required the patches. I guess it would still need patching the client to see all the zones, but I was just interested in a few of the surrounding areas. I'll have to read the faqs for installing the server to find out.
Anyways, thanks again!
