I got the newest version of eqemu and it works with the new everquest. Everything went fine but as soon as I log into the game after making a chairactor the lag bar immediately starts dropping till i hit 0 and go back to chairactor select. I tried making a Ogre and a Human to see if it made any difference but it don't.

I am just doing the mini login right now

I am useing:
Windows ME (I did use boot4zones win9x version)
512 megs memory
geforce3 ti 200 128 meg video card
amd atholon 1.7

I did have the last version of eqemu working before the may 8th patch, but since then I have redone my hard drive and am useing windows me instead of windows xp at the moment. As far as my router goes all the settings I changed to get it to work before are still present. I think all the files are right. I did the 2006 error fix in mysql and I have been leaving winmysql open while trying to play. I rechecked the instructions and all files are where there supposed to be. I see no errors when loading anything up.

Ditto. I go LD as soon as I enter the world. I just patched to current today and I'm using 0.3.2 with EQW (I can't log in without it :( )

System: HP Pavilion zt1170 laptop
- Win2kPro
- 512Mb RAM

I'm using the minilogon to try to run locally.

As a side note, does anyone have any insight as to why logging in without EQW doesn't work? When I use EQW the frame rate is REALLY choppy so I'd much rather use eqgame patchme...

drop to DOS prompt
change directory to c:\program files\everquest
(OR --> your everquest directory)

type:

eqgame.exe patchme

I dunno bout minilogin but using the publiclogin v1.0.2 it works great.

I never have used eqw cause I don't want to have to change my system colors nor run eq in a small window.

I accually have the same problem as well, but if I remember right it's from petitions. So basially.. if you don't use petitions or your not a GM (#gm off works to stop this), then it won't happen. We're working to resolve it.

To fix the LD on login problem you need to edit your DataRate.txt file in your []:\Program Files\EverQuest\ folder. You need to set it at about 10 is what worked for me. :) Hope this helps people!

Yup, bumping the data rate up from 5 to 10 fixed the LD problem. Now my only problem is the whole THREE frames per second under EQW :(

I tried changeing the datarate to 10 but it didn't do me any good. I know i looked in one of the boot5zones.win9x windows and as soon as I logged into the game it had a unepected opcode error

I'm having this problem off and on, and when it happens, it happens for a while till i give up and just don't play. changing the datarate worked once, but i eventually went ld again. Any word from a dev why this is happening?

Windcatcher,

I am sure you know better but Iwas having the 3fps problem to til I noticed my damn color depth was 32 bit and not 16bit under Display in windows. As for the LD yeah setting the datarate.txt up to 7 worked perfect for me.

Make sure you're in 16bit color mode (desktop and eqclient.ini) and also mess around with the ingame resolution (perhaps backng it up one) i had some problems with 1024x768 mode in EQ (1280x1024 desktop) and bumping EQ reso down to 800x600 took care of the FPS problems.

The way I run it is in 800X600 mode. Far as speed goes it is full speed *I can walk around for about 10 seconds before it completely drops me*. I don't use eqw I just open everquest.exe and it downloads a new eqhost.txt file. Then I past the locallogic eqhost in there and hit play. That is what I did on the previous version of the emulator and it worked great.
