First off, sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, and I made this repost in the event I posted in the wrong section
I've been having issues setting up a server,
What I have installed on my computer is in order of installation,
1) Everquest Trilogy
2) Shadows of Luclin
3) Planes of Power
I have never patched, ever as I just installed these on my computer, can someone help me set up a server, in which I can access atleast the all zones of Everquest Trilogy as well as the Vah Shir race from Shadows of Luclin using the latest Velious Database, but preferably, even though their won't be any mobs and junk, I'd like to be able to get use the Shadows of Luclin areas, and Planes of Power areas. Now I plan on doing this on my computer, I've made a few attempts using a few tutorials on this site, but nothing has worked yet. To be honest I only plan on playing with half a dozen to a dozen users online. Probally just 5.
I'd greatly apreciate any provided. If you leave a response please be prepaired to possibly painstakingly walk me through this, as I'm a newb with actually making a EQemu server. ops:
Or it'd be cool if you could refer me to someone who's experinced with this who could help me out.

Hello,
For make a Eqemu server, you need some software (like trilogy) but also some patch from Sony patcher.
No eqemu version work with only CD version (without patch).
The last version compatible with the last patch is Eqemu 0.6.2 DR0
You need for that to grab Source from CVS and compile it for the software or found a windows compiled version. You need to grab a database and apply change
describe in 0.6.2 DR0 instructions.
When server update is finish, you have a good guide here :
http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/showthread.php?p=111756 from sesmar.
http://eqemu.sesmar.net/
If you lack some skill in C++ compil or Mysql manipulation (like many people), you must wait a compatible release...
Hope that help you :)

hmmm well, just curious but, like I'm confused about what you said.
So when you say last patch, do you mean last patch that Sony released, or last patch that worked with EQemu, I mean theirs a big difference. I'm assuming you mean last patch Sony released (the evil one that made my life hell, figures you download it, a few days days later you find out theirs a way to start your own server, then you find out reading about it that cause you just patched! you can't do this, then you ininstall all patches to find out you have less chance doing it that way lol.)
Back to my question, in theory, if I get the newest patch, again, with the not quite complete version of EQemu stuff 6. somthin (im new, shivers at the thought of newbiesm, has a siezure, then gets up out of fetal position) I could intheory make using the new patch and new server stuff a server? Like could I jump onboard someone elses project if this is true and learn like an aprentticeship, I'll be honest I don't know C++ though. So I guess not

What Belfadia means is..You have to patch. There is no such thing as a working server using an original unpatched CD. Now the sign says do not patch but that has nothing to do with patching from a fresh install. Its possible to find files on the internet to sort of reverse the last patch and get your EQ game to work with the EMU(The 6.1 versions) but thats not supported here and is against the rules to talk about.(It may not even be possible anymore as I havent tried and I dont really support that kind of thing myself)
But there is a solution(Foe making a server). But it requires that you compile the 6.2 sources. And even at that rate the 6.2 is very buggy but live compatible. I dont know of anyone that has released or posted a 6.2 version that has already been compiled.
So this is what I would do for now....
Go ahead and patch to live. Read the tutorials and/or search the forums to know what to do to play on a server. You will be using port 5998 in your eqhost.txt file. Look at the servers that show up on the select screen. If there are any that say 0.6.2-0 or something like that. Try to log in.(Dont forget that you must also register as a "player". I mean you cant use your forum name and password to get to the server select. The tutorials will tell you about that.) If everthing works you should be able to play on a 6.2 server with your now live compatible version of EQ.(note...6.2 servers are rare and may not show up for days or weeks. Or.. there may be one on right now. You never know!)When you get that far. Copy/paste your EQ folder so that you have 2 versions that work. Later you may want to patch again but that will be for another version. You will want to keep your old version to play on 6.2 servers.
You can go through the Server tutorials for practice until there is something you can use to play on your server. You need to understand mysql and perl
anyway. If then you are not frustated and have given up. You will be ready when the time comes to set up your own server. Its a long and rocky road but it seems possible!
