After installing eqmu 0.6.1DR2 and running it, I can't seem to find it on the server list when logging in from a client.

Background:
I successfully ran EQMU about a year ago, and decided to try a later version. I completely gutted the system runnign on Windows XP and reinstalled MySql Server 4.1, Active State Perl 5.8.7 build 813, and eqmu 0.6.1DR2. I followed the install tutorial posted at http://eqemu.sesmar.net/eqemu_6_1dr2 Everything installed without incident. I allowed ports 9000, 5998, and the zone server ports through my firewall. I also created a server account listing on the eqmu server page under the name "Abells Gate". Perhaps I am missing something simple, but I cannot get the server to show up on the eqmu client's server list. Has a problem this been experienced before?

Your server might be starting on newlogin2..I would just delete that. Its in the login server ini. I dont have anything there but loginserver=eqemulator.net

HAve you open UDP port ? not just TCP ?

I didn't have the ports open for UDP. I went ahead and opened those as well. I also replaced the "loginserver=newlogin2.eqemulator.net" with "loginserver=eqemulator.net" in the LoginServer.ini file. After restarting the server and letting it run for about 15 minutes, I logged into the eqemu client but still did not see the server.

On a side note, the eqemu client I am using is a mirror of the everquest client from about a year ago. I don't expect it to work with eqemu 0.6.1dr2, but I'd think I should at least be able to see the server on the login list.

I may just wait to see if it will work when live is out.

Maybe your client is on 5994..This server type should be on 5998

That's probably it. I just saw someone connect so it has to be visible somewhere.

Is there a version detection tool I can use to see if the client matches that older version number?

Yep..

But if your client is say a year old then I would guess 6.0DR? I would save it if you can play on those servers and make another to patch to live.
Then start working towards a 0.6.1DR1 or the new 0.6.2 version.
The 0.6.1DR1 client is the pre 5/11 type. 0.6.2 is live. They are on 5998.

EDIT>>Oh you may even want to make a server for your version client if its
a 6.0 something. From what I gather those are more stable than the later versions. But I have no idea myself. I dont have a client for those.
