Cant get past 'Char Creation' scr. PLS!

Hello new bretherens :-)

If any1 has had similair problem, pls help.

I set up a server, EQEMU. Installed the EQ pack with like 7 zones or so. Think its called Trilogy. It has oldschool zones, velious kunark etc. etc.

It loads mysql, perl, World.exe and Zone.exe aswell as MiniLogin fine. No problems. Server initializes up good.

I log into EQ, select server and enter Character Creation screen.

I create the char ie. human cleric in Freeport.

I press enter game, it loads, screen goes black and bumps me back to server selection screen. No errors. I do though get an error string in World.Exe I believe it was, cant remember.

Please help, Im so close to getting it up and running :(

PS: U guys who came up with the idea of EQEMU and made it happen, UNBELIEVABLE :) Im an old school EQer and played the game forever so obviously like the game. Always wanted the GM Power rush hehe:)

Found this in the forums, going to try it later 2night. But, Does this even mean for MiniLogin servers (LAN EQ Server)? or is it specificaly for servers across the net?

The EQ for Dummies guide specificly states that it does no longer work and won't until EQEmu catches up to Live again.

I have recently patched right u pto date including Depths of Darkhollow. Will EQEmu work?? I have tried several times to load it up but all it says is logging into server and does nothing else. Have I patched it too much or will Eqemu not work with the DoD files/patch?

Im running Minilogin LAN not over the net. eqemulator.net needs to be changed to localhost or 127.0.0.1 but will try the ports, thx.

So all I need to put in the eqhosts file is:

or do I need to put in the file

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998

not [LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5994


Also with reference the above message on the forum where it says PATCH before 9/13. Does this mean all expansions including Depths of Darkhollow?
If so I will go on tonight and patch right the way up and then not run any patches after the 13th.

For core :

You have a fresh patched client who run with 0.6.2DR1 eqemu (Advice : Put him on a dvd, on 9/13/2005 next client don't work).
you use minilogin 0.6.1 but minilogin for 0.6.2DR1 is'nt finished. Just waiting it :)

For garoc :

You can download ALL patchs (also Depths of Darkhollow files) but BEFORE 9/13/2005 patch who break emulation :(

Hrm, I patched up until today newest patch. Its 9/8-05 so hasnt reached 9/13-05 yet :) Anyways now when I enter my login and password which was root and xxxxxxx before it tells me the login is incorrect and wont even let me into the server. Will chk forums on this just wondered if I missed something. Thx for the support guys!

might take a minute or so for it to kick in after you click enter world, also check to see if your firewall is stopping you. i turn mine off as it does the samething if i have mine turned on, sends me back to the server select screen!!!

Still not running over internet. Im running the server files on a LAN.

1.)
installed EQ, EQEMU, Perl and MySql.

Adjusted settings to 127.0.0.1:5999
Using MiniLogin on port 5999
It worked fine to load server files, and get all the way to "Character Creation" window and create a char.
When I pressed "Enter World" it bumped me back to "Server Screen" every time.

2.)
Updated to newest patch as of 9/7-05.
Now when I start up everything it works except for when I start up EQ. I enter password and it just hangs. Been looking for similair but nothing here.:(

Minilogin DON'T work with eqemu live 0.6.2 (Lan server)
if you read minilogin forum support, they say: Work is in progress...

Forgot to mention I got everything working now.

Thx to Tallerin and all others for the help.

Installed 0.6.2, minilogin 6.2 mysql & perl.
The biggest issue on installing is the OP Codes.
Changed them and it works fine.

MUST use port 5999 for 0.6.2, is this correct? I cant get it working on 5998.

Anyway works great love all you guys for this awesome program!

can you explain more what you did to get your login to work. I have a server up on LAN and I can enter character creation make the character but then it freezes up and boots me back to server select before I can spawn into the game.

I'd like to know how you go yours up and running

The fix I found out about has to do with editing your hosts file.

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ folder. Edit with notepad.

On each computer on the lan that wants to connect to the server. Add the line:

192.168.1.100 no-ip.com

Except change to your internal ip# and whatever your no-ip address is.

Yupp edit the Hosts file in windows etc directory

192.168.1.222 eqserver.com

the "eqserver.com" can be whatever your system is named

Also VERY IMPORTANT, check the loginserver.ini and boot5zones.bat

If your using minilogin it has to be typed correctly. use 127.0.0.1 first and if it still hangs use localhost. See to it that localhost is in your /etc Hosts file. It should be there by default.

Do you have any errors when you start up minilogin.exe, world.exe and zone.exe? If so post your ini's aswell as your errors.
