error 1017 cannot login to the everquest server

when i try to join i get that error 1017 you may need to re-run update patch repeatedly seeing this message indicates a loss of connectivity to the patch server this is usually temporary but iv been geting it over and over

get used to give more info..what server? is it yours? if not, that server might have NAT problems, also check your firewall.

Hey. I had that same problem for the longest time. I found that EQEmu only works for me when I have administrator priviledges for Windows Xp. Its wierd...EQ live works fine as a limited user, but EQEmu requires me to be admin. *Shrug*

If you want just play, and you have a 1017 error, your game is'nt compatible with EQEMU (If live work, emu work also).
If you want make a server, this is a little more hard :p

well im only geting error on Darius(Semi-Legit) and Project Norrath (Legit) and NOW just started RadarBlipBox now that it has (legit-patched) up there was fine last night

if you can connect to PEQ or even radarblipbox and you get issues with the other servers trying to loggin. 99.9% it is server side for them not your client.

that bad string error i have every so often. worst case just restart your eqgame and try again.

Darius is 0.6.1 version (not compatible with your software)
Peq is 0.6.2 version (compatible with your software).

Just open eyes and see version number before server name ;)

well now i can log into all of them but saying that chars have no names and like lvl 200+ and they in unknown zones even PEQ

im getting this problem, but i patched on 9-12-05 and backed it up on a dvd so that cant be the problem. i was getting the 1017 errors, but i finally got past that after i kept trying. but now IF a server does load and i go to make a character it just sits when its approving the name. any ideas?

Have you check your firewall ? router ? for port 9000.
