Going Public...Problems logging in.

OK..So I changed login config to my real(external) IP address.
I changed the first lines of 5bootzones.bat to my real IP address.

I can log in fine. My Sister cant log in at all(1017). My Niece logged in but server quit responding while she was trying to make a character. She does have an account now.

So is this a bad connection? Im using cable internet. Does anyone have any experience with this? This is my first time trying to log someone other than myself. The clients are correct and the server is fine.

Should we just keep trying?

have you opened ports 7000 to 9000 for eqemu and 3306 for mysql in your firewall/router?

I actually removed my router for the test. So that cant be an issue..

I'm working with a friend across the country in helping me with my server. She can connect, but is having all sorts of trouble I'm not having being local. I'm thinking it may be the weakness of my cable modem upload speed but I'm still working on it. Can they connect to any other sources that may be utilizing higher bandwidth connections to their server, that are running the same version as you? Can they possibly bring their computers in and test it on your local network?

If she can log in, and she is disconnected while still in the process of creating her character, chances are it is your connection, or limited resources available on your computer. Were you playing your client on the same box. How many times was she disconnected while in the process of creating a character?

If this has only happened once or twice give it a few more shots. If you would like, I can try to log in to see if it is isolated.

Yes..I was playing on the same box. It could be that. But when I tried to have my Sister log in I wasnt playing at the time..God I hope its not my connection. I really dont expect more than 5 people at a time to be playing on my server so I figured my cable was good enough. Im gonna buy some more hardware and set this up on its own computer soon so maybe that will help too.

So this is what Im going to do..

I will run my server all weekend and anyone is welcome to try to log in and play if they so desire. But if anyone tries and cant get in please tell me in this thread so I know whats happening.

A cable modem should give you enough to have at least one remote connection. I had 4 on at a time when I had cable. It might just be that last night you had a poor connection. I will give it a shot when I see your server on the server list.

Hey! Maybe the windows XP firewall?
Ill turn it off..Right now Im defragmenting HD..Will be back up soon..

Saweet! Thanks dude! And this is just a test on my bloated trashy personal comp. Got something big in the other room. Going on a spending spree for parts now..Gonna be dedicated as an emu server.

Also saw one other log in but I think got booted from cabeast..(zone ID is NULL in client::Clearance!)Dont know what that is but I will check if cabeast is somehow blocked from status 0..In fact Im going to open them all to zone to.

i get that error when zoning into qeynos1 and gfay, or pepople on my server do, only every now and then though, curious
