This should fix any latency problems you have over a LAN or Minilogin (Locally Hosting)
a) Open up your EverQuest directory. (Usally either C:\EverQuest\ or C:\Program Files\EverQuest\)
b) Look for a file named DataRate.txt (Should be under 5 bytes in size)
c) Open it up in your favorite text editor (Notepad will do, but if you're a purist, see my title for more information ;))
d) Change the number to 10.0, Save, and Exit.

10 may be a tad bit high unless u have a T1 :)

try 6-8

Well on a LAN you would most likely be running at 100 mbs which is t1 ;)

hehe Sprite. t1 is actually 1.5, not 100 ;)

Really, I thought they both were 100, oh well, happens :D.

Connecting to other people's servers is based on your connection and what the host connection is as far as latency. Just make sure your datarate is about 5.0 if you have a 56k or else you will overflow with packets and go LD, if connecting to someone else's server that is :D

if you're playing with yourself over a lan, then have it at 10.

I had a bad lag problem that I could not solve. New drivers, re-load DirectX, re-patch executables, all kinds of crap.

What fixed it:
DirectX had disabled D3D support. I still had DirectX, Direct Sound, but no D3D support. Enabled it, and it all worked fine again. Really wierd.

actually a t1 is 1.45 mbits/sec :P

Greetings...

Your DirectX options will be in a dxconfig file. Do a find on your C: drive for dx*.* You will find the file with an icon that looks like a black circle with a yellow X on it...

Also I'm STILL having major. My datarate I have played on 5.0, 7.0 & 10.0 & I'm still have major LAG issues. I LD a minute after logging in. I'm running the solo server using minilogin. My D3D is active in my directX & I have the most updated drivers. I've lowered my graphic settings within EQ itself, but still dying. :(

Anything else out there to check?

Lowered your graphic settings within EQ itself?

You need to lower your graphic settings from the desktop......

right click on your desktop
select properties
goto settings tab
Under COLORS set it to 256 or maybe 16bit

Your talking about connecting to your own server right?

I'm currently set at 16bit. I couldn't get EQW to work until I did that... But I will try the 256 to see if that works.
