eqhost.txt problem

well, i went throught the beginner guide striaght through, and when i went to log in it said that the EQHOST.TXT could be missing from the directory. What did i do wrong? Do i have to download a client for it to work or something of that nature... i did copy and paste waht it said to put in the txt file and i changed the name to EQHOST.TXT when it didnt work for the 3rd time

Sometimes windows likes to hide the common ( and not so common ) file extensions. Make sure you have file extensions turned on so you can see the full file name. You may have a eqhost.txt.txt file , thats why everquest doesn't recognise it. Make sure this is in the eqhost.txt file ,
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998

and that the file is in your everquest root directory.

EQEmu is for FRESH , UNPATCHED , fully installed , TITANIUM Everquest installs.
There's 3 steps to play on EQEmu servers.

1.) Install TITANIUM Everquest CD's onto your computer. DO NOT PATCH.

2.) Change EQHOST.TXT to [LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998
3.) Find eqgame.exe in your Everquest ROOT directory , make a shortcut on your desktop that points to eqgame.exe ( can do this in WindowsXP by right clicking on eqgame.exe , go down to send to , then clicking on Desktop (create shortcut ) ) . Now when you have your shortcut on your desktop , right click on your shortcut , you will see target type , target location , and target. Click on Target text area , hit backspace then paste this into that area. "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme
OR just add patchme AFTER the " . There is a space between the " and patchme.

After all of that your ready to rock and roll. ALWAYS USE THE SHORTCUT YOU JUST MADE ON YOUR DESKTOP TO START EQ.

There's quite a few good servers up and running. *cough* Darktides *cough*
But find one that suits you the best , afterall we're all here to have fun!

well i guess i have to get that Titanium. I was under the impression that i could download all of the optional patching under eq thanks for clearing that up though, some parts of the starting guide wasnt that detailed.

well it says so in the text at the top of the forums, in the global sticky, in the global announcment and in the wiki guide on connecting.

Dont know why its so hard to figure out.

And bumping old threads is a bad thing.
