Hey all, I've played EQ for years but wanted to try EQ Emu just to run around solo and be goofy. I basically have one question. As a frequent player, am I able to use EQ Emu if I have my files completely patched up to Everquest's release? I ask because I did everything that the play guide said... but I always time out when I get to the server select screen. If I enjoy myself, i'm probably going to create my own dedicated server as well, just haven't decided yet. Any help is much appreciated.

I think you misssed the first paragraph in the Player Guide Duque.
Here is is...
Please note: If "DO NOT PATCH" is displayed on the top of the forums, this means that EQEmulator is out of date with EQLive. There is no legal way to play on EQEmulator at this time. You will have to wait until the developers release an EQLive compatable version. You may, however, find servers with custom content. Servers which have custom content often have a patcher, which will allow you to get a compatible patch, and their content. This is considered illegal by the project, and is not to be talked about anywhere on the forums or chat. If you look hard on the forums, or the wiki, you may find your answer (read DoNotPatchWarning).
Notice the Please note: If "DO NOT PATCH" . Now, look at the top of the Forum Page and you will see that is says:
Titanium Now Supported - Do not patch to live, but 0.7.0 adds support for fresh Titanium installs.
Notice the Do Not Patch?
The easiest way for you to play on an EMU, IMO, is to go out, spend $20.00 and buy the EQ Titanium Version, install it in a seperate directory from your Patched EQ and play from there. DO NOT PATCH IT.

You can install Titanium on the same PC, just use another directory and make separate shortcuts. But don'tget confused and run the patcher! once you patch you new install, it's no good anymore to EQEMU
