I followed verbatum all of the steps needed to install and play EQEmulator. Titanium is installed, I turned on EQ and downloaded all the new patches and crap, the followed the step where I'm supposed to change eqhost.txt and I made the shortcut and now....

I am able to log into EQ but my mouse doesn't work. Weird
So I used the keyboard to log in and everything and once I got to the server select screen, it told me that I currently own 0 of 0 expansions which is not true because I own Titanium. If there might be anyone in the forums who might know what to do, please let me know. Thanks.

After you install titanium do not patch, your going to have to delete your install. Re-install, then edit your eqhost.

Also you have to make a shortcut to a file in your everquest directory called "eqgame.exe"

the shortcut should say "eqgame.exe patchme" , run that

Looking at the play guide

http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=PlayGuide

it states

Step 1 - Installing - Patching (Don't patch if you have a titanium version)
Install Titanium from the disks, do NOT patch to live.

So how did you follow it verbatum?

Lol, Thanks guys. I feel quite the fool. But hopefully it works. I will re-install and re-do. Thanks again.

Ok, I re-installed and re-did everything and got back to the server select screen (my stupid mouse still doesn't work. What the hell is that?) and now it says I own every expansion but from that screen I am unable to click on Play Everquest and am also unable to select a server to play on. Sorry to bother, but, any other ideas guys?

thats a problem addressed in the EQ support site, you have to download the windows compatability application and whatnot, do a search for frozen mouse and it will give you step by step instructions and links to the downloads

I'm doing that right now. Thanks for the quick responses. We'll see if this works.

I would look through the forums some under General::Server Discussion.

Also check out a few servers and see which one you like.

As I understand it, Emu server lifespans are rather short. I'd load up the client to the server select screen, pop into one that has 20+ people in it, and do a /who all to see what their level is. If they are above level 10, the server has likely been up for more than a week.

A lot of people new to EQEmu will be patching to live and not realizing they need an unpatched install of EQ Titanium.

The main website has a small box on the right side at the top named "For Players". Under it are some links including "Player Guide" and then "Player's Wiki". The player guide looks like the place for new players to go and it tells them to use whatever EQ install they have and be sure to patch to live. The correction is listed above but at least on my browser the page is loaded and prepositioned to not show the very top. This page also comes up anywhere a player accesses the FAQ and then chooses Player Guide.

There doesn't seem to be a way to change it from the Wiki so I PMed Rogean.
