Hello i just wanted to give a little background about me and then ill get to my question.

Exp: I used to play EQ about 3 years ago until some things happend in my life they stoped me from playing. Just like ever other EQ player, the crack is back and im hoping to work it through my system. Latly i have had a overwhelming need to try and play again and bring abck the good ol days. I own the Titanium pack and wanted to try EQemu servers becasue i think its utter crap that Sony still charges what they do to play a very outdated game(sorry to be so negative about the game.... but look at the trees... hahaha).

Question: I wondered through the forums for awhile and tried the server list search on the main page, but to my luck the server list didnt work and the forums just kept saying new server with such and such.

Im looking for a server with the characteristics of being a completly legit server, origonal quests and everything. One exception i wouldnt mind is the faster exp... because i rember the days of like 6 hrs for like 1/1000 of a bub... haha (crack). Also i was wondering what some of the most popular server were. I really wanna try and get the old EQ feeling back and i keep reading about these servers with added quests and such, but i just want the origonal. Also i only played EQ up until the Legacy of Ykesha exp came out. so thats allim really looking... only reason i mention that iss because some people where writing that some servers are only questable to luclin. I may be completly off base with what im looking for. So any critisim is welcome. Im just looken to have fun.

Thanks for any responses.

'PEQ The Grand Creation' server is about as close to live as you will come. They have a ton of live quests, and almost all mobs from live up to I think Luclin? May be off but I'm sure you wont find any other server closer to live.

Thanks for the quick reply. Now since you said:

does that mean the zones in the expantions past luclin are non-accessable or they are not filled with mobs? Also do the planes of power work on any of the servers. Always wanted to try out the planes... never really got a chance to.

On peq itself those zones are non-accessable. On other servers they may be but without mobs. On still others they may have mobs or custom spawns.
However..If I were serious about playing I would always start with peq. Its been there for years and will probably be there for many more.
I wouldnt trust any other server to be there a year from now.(I dare say Innoruuk will be there though)And you dont want to lose all you have worked for.

You will get a lot of people say this or that Server is better, but the truth is you really need to check them all out yourself before commiting to a Server.
my Server has spawns up to OOW.
we have a lot of spawns taken from live that look exactly like live.
plus we have 8x experiance gains.
http://spacetrader.no-ip.info/eq/zones.php
the low population Servers <LPS> are ALL different and have weak and strong points.
my server is geared twards playing solo and I setup most of the boss mobs so that they can be took out by one person if he is smart.
but I have seen a few grouped people play that say it's very challengeing also for groups.

This about the 100th post I 've seen from people asking this question and
there really is no Best Server. if you like to be around a lot of people PEQ is you best bet but if you want custom content, then shop around a bit.

I would have to agree if you want a more live like game play on PEQ. Innoruuk, is mostly for soloing and multi boxing, the most people that play on it are old guildies from the Original "SOE" Innoruuk Server.

Dude. You have been in there solid for a looong time! You deserve some mention. You know they should have a way for the login server to record uptimes on all the servers that log in. If a server goes down for more than 15 minutes then it starts its uptime all over. The servers that have the most uptime have a chance to be on the preferred server list. And if you are a preferred server for for a certain amount of time AND you have the most population base of the preferred servers you can become a legends server.
If some rules and a system could be worked out like that I think it would make for some solid servers with an easy way for noobs to choose.

Wouldnt that be great competition? I know I wouldnt want to give up my preferred server status too quickly. I would be trying to make the best most stable system I could.

There is no such thing as getting on a perfered Server Listing by keeping you server uptime over 90%....
it's if your liked or not by the ServOp.
theres a little admin login button on the main server listing.

So what are saying? The loginserver OP logs in there? If so then what happens? What about the program itself? Couldnt that be added to list the servers the way it wants to? Or just make its own decisions?

Doodman controles who get perfered Server status, and to quote him "people keep complainin but not one person has asked me"

If you ask he ill set it up to track you uptime and player average then decide if it *popular* enough for it.

In other words, talk to Doodman and stop talking crap when you dont know whats up, he is the most impartial and fair person in this community.

This is all I would count on for "popular"... average, active players, and uptime maybe but... active players wouldn't be on a server with a lot of downtime (Morell-Thule, anyone? HA)

Oh..Im not complaining. Im just expressing an idea I had that may or may not help a little. Im just saying that if someone were bored one day and decided to write a little program into the login server it might be something to try out.
I mean if Dudeman would still want to choose for himself thats fine. But if he wanted to not have to worry about complaints he could make the server make all the decisions. The idea is. Its something that might be implemented and give server ops something more than just making a server. It helps players to know who has been there the longest. Bla bla bla. Ill leave it at that.
And thanks for the info about the impartiality of Dudeman. If ever I feel that my server is deserving. Ill ask him.

You know, life is cruel sometimes; me? Im jealous you have a real cool avatar and I don't get any!
Which reminds me; at one time, wasn't there a "Planet of the Apes" line the Orcs in Gfay used to holler (in a battle cry), somewhere in the line of "You'll not ruin my lands like you did yours!!" - If I could only remember exactly how it went. I'd throw that in the scripts I'm making.
I always thought whoever made the Orcs had the original Planet of the Apes movie in mind. as the Orcs sort of looked like them and were upset over the everyone screwing up their land.

EDIT;
I think I found it;
"You've ruined your lands. You'll not ruin mine!"

"You've ruined your lands. You'll not ruin mine!"

from a Gnoll in Highpass and Blackburrow. and also the orcs in s-ro used to tell me a different version.

Bark Bark! You've ruined your own lands, you'll not ruin mine!

also the Druids in Karnas used to say "natural selection at it's finest"
when they killed undeads or something evil that wandered into the druid rings.

Yeah, I believe a few races shouted that upon initiating combat... so much so it turned into "$name, you have ruined your own underpants, you shall not ruin mine!" that we'd shout through zones during boring travel times.

Using $name when its npc vs npc creates a problem;

" guard_soandso_001 You've ruined your lands. You'll not ruin mine!" the 001 looks out of place.

I was only using it as a placeholder. I didn't really use $name.

Guard Bob shouts, "Angelox, you have ruined your own underpants, you shall not ruin mine!"

Before I picked a server I checked out each one with anyone logged in that I could talk to. They all seemed fun but all were different.

I chose the peq server 'grand creation' because I wanted to play the game something like the way it was when I played it. And it is pretty close but there are many differences. To name a few: The #peqzone command is enabled for players allowing access to almost any zone quickly. When you die you are returned to your game starting point with all of your equipment and cannot be rezzed. No mob flees when low on health though casters do gate. Aggro has a different feel to it... etc.

Many who play EQEmu multibox. Often this helps because at times there may be very few actual people playing there and access to the different buffs makes things happen. On peq I think warrior/monk/shaman.. maybe a cleric too are a good combo.
