mysql not working at all... any clues??

hey ppl,

going through the server install about 3 times now remove all and started again each time but 3rd time around I have found winmysqladmin is showing me a red light and when I go to do part of the install that envolves

../mysql -u root eq

it says it can't connect to localhost or some such.

any ideas???

nm found out how to fix it by reading up on MySQL forums.

Now I am having a problem completeing one of the steps in the install instructions as they dont seem clear enough.
