View Full Version : Player is beneath the world...?

Apologies if this has been answered somewhere previously. I have tried several searches without generating any remotely helpful results.

Roughly 3 months ago my server was setup completely in accordance with the guide/wikki.

I have not yet decided to blank my server (un/install sql & perl, etc).. though I may, depending on the outcome of this topic.

I am aware that my sql / perl (minor) versions are slightly off from those currently recommended.

I have input all of the required (changelog) SQL.

(and I'm using the peq [luclin] database)

Also, and this may be of some importance to note:
IF I use the 0.7.0-941 binaries, my server is playable.

This problem occurs on 0.7.0-942 and 0.7.0-992, specifically. I have not yet attempted to run any of the versions between those two.

With that out of the way, since I know they'll be called for sooner or later:
LoginServer.ini (http://images.igloos.ca/d/386976-1/loginserver.jpg)
eqemu_config.xml (http://images.igloos.ca/d/386985-1/eqemuconfigxml.jpg)
.. and a mySQL version number (proof) (http://images.igloos.ca/d/386982-1/sqlversion.jpg)
Note: I'm unsure of how to determine my perl version (but I'm rather sure that it's not more than a few minor versions off of the current)

The problem: http://images.igloos.ca/d/386974-1/in_game_shot.jpg

The server detects nothing unusual: http://images.igloos.ca/d/386987-1/nothing_strange_on_server_view.jpg

Notice that the in-game output is telling me that I'm below the world at (z)0?

Funny, gfay thinks the underworld is at -5000: http://images.igloos.ca/d/386972-1/gfaydark.jpg

Further, it says it's moving me to the safe point. According to that picture.. the safe point sure as hell isn't 0,0,0.. so why does it keep moving me back to that loc?

And finally, according to my db.. my character IS at the safe point: http://images.igloos.ca/d/386980-1/Whuppee.jpg

Note that while this is happening, my view never changes.

#goto will change my position, for instance.. as you'll see a line in that 'player under world' spam that shows whatever position I've #goneto.. though that's lost in the spam so quickly that I've not bothered to even try to screenshot it.

EDIT2 :
The x/y used in my #goto do not change my view at all. Changing my z axis will cause me to float at the coordinate (read: which does update my view).
[/edit]

If I attempt to move, like.. by holding the run forward key.. that is also visible in the output.. but not my view.

*confused*

Thanks in advance for reading / helping.. :-)

EDIT1 :
Incase it might be relevant: while I cannot move, and even #goto won't change my view.. I can turn. And this does change my view.

Very minor information:
perl --version
dumps the version of perl you are using.

(perl does have to be in your execution search path, or in the current directory).

Thanks, Emanon :)

perl version 5.8.7 (proof) (http://images.igloos.ca/d/386989-1/perlversion.jpg)

Not enough information provided to be sure, but I found this post of interest on Angelox' forums: http://eq.ismg.ch/mirkwood/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?393

Might just be a software issue on my end.. but if I simply click that link to Angelox' forums.. I end up on a page identical to how it should be, but with the posts lacking their text. Right click -> copy to clipboard -> paste into address bar... and everything is as it should be. =/

-941 works fine for me.. but that problem does sound a bit like the one I'm having...

Is it possible that my db is too old to work with the newest binaries? I'm using the projectEQ final release of their luclin db.. downloaded roughly 3 months ago..

Try obtaining the latest CVS of peq. It contains all the needed sql for 992. That is if you wanted to upgrade. Visit my guide in the wiki and scroll down to the PEQ Database part on how to download and source in as its not as easly as the luclin release. Your mysql should be fine. PEQ from the sql dumps I belive is running 5.0.27 also or maybe its 5.0.24, either way, I dont think there is a major difference that affects us here between .24 .27 or .37
