I recently purchased cedega so I could run the titanium client on my Linux pc. The game runs perfectly but I cannot see any character models. I have gone to the cedega forums and tried all of the suggestions they had there, but nothing fixed my issue. I am using a Geforce FX 5900 video card and the latest stable nvidia drivers in gentoo's portage. I also tested the game by running it in wine and experienced the same problem. By the way the titanium client runs very well the latest version of wine besides not being able to see the character models.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, if so how did you fix it?

Cedega really does not support Everquest client anymore, and that is why I cancelled my membership with Cedega.
The best I was able to do with Cedega was run EQ with none of the newer character models active (for speed) - also, As for Pixel Shaders *on the client* (not Cedega), I was only able to keep 1.3 active (I think it was 1.3 or mayb 1.4) , if you have the wrong Pixel Shaders switched on, you will have the "no-can-see-character" effect.
Finally, I developed this problem where the text all look garbled and couldn't see right. I played Everquest Via Cedega for years, just got tired of "hacking" around new problems that came up with every new update to Cedega (since they don't update provisions for EQ).
Pentium 4 Tech is so cheap nowadays, I just keep an extra XP machine for Everquest client and a few other things I prefer out of windows.

Doh, I just paid for a year of cedega because EQ was an officially supported game. I'll have to keep messing with setting combos. I have tried with pixel shaders disabled and 1.3. Will have to try 1.1, 1.4, and 2.0.

Very true, but since he mentioned having a FX 5900, I imagin he is rolling around the P4 stage at the moment. As much of a pain in the ass it would be, you could just dual boot into a windows enviroment and play away. If the classic project takes off, you may be able to run it via VMware with little or no performance drop. Dont quite know how a 7 year old game will fair in VM, but there isnt much feature rich stuff in Trilogy as there is now so it might work.

Buying another PC is not an option. I already have to many set up now for the wife's liking. All run Linux, 2 are servers and 1 is my gaming/music recording rig. I really did not want to dual boot because I have limited disk space as it is already. I will keep working on it to see if I can find a work around.

Check out VMWare to see if you can emulate a PC on your *nix box.

The PC specs are:
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
1 Gig DDR Ram
Geforce FX 5900 XT
Soundblaster Audigy 2 platnium
OS: Gentoo Linux 2007.0
Kernel: 2.6.20-r8-gentoo
I haven't tried VM ware yet, I thought the performance hit would be too much.

For me, all the time I had Cedega, Everquest always preformed better under windows, I never really cared for the new models, I'm so used to the old ones, I developed sort of an "affection" for them during my "golden days" of Eq. Cedega runs better and faster with old models and horses, etc turned off.
Lately, I opened up bazaar on the server (Still not complete, but working!), and what is bazaar with no horses? I have a PC i built with a 2.4gig P4 CPU, 1 gig mem and and an FX 5200 ( probably spent uder 200.00 for the upgrade to one of my old old P3s) - works fine with all characters and horses turned on, but with windows - I wouldn't attempt this under Cedega.
They say it supports EQ and it does, but not like it used to, and never better than under windows.
The way I see it: windows games/programs are for windows, and Linux games/programs are for Linux.
I love Linux, and have a lot of fun with it and have learned a lot too. But if you're a gamer, you better have a windows machine too, because most all the games are made for Windows and not for Linux. Not that one is better than the other, but Linux is free, open source, and windows is free, "open-your-wallet-source", and who wants to make a game for free anyways?

I laughed, I cried. then I got angry....
I seen that bots post in another thread I think that it seemed legit and all, but it was just a gimmick. I can tolerate the ones that just come up and blurt out 1,578 links to baby giraffe pronography, but the ones that play it cool and try to blend in just piss me off.
It could be a post that was all about how everyone is against abortion and that @*#)%)F would still come by with a thread that says "That's a awesome idea, I'm all for it!" with its quaint little link in the signature line that says Ultimate Home Theater System from Spambuy (www.google.com).
God I hate idots and spam. GET A GOD FORSAKEN FREAKING F&$*#KIN LIFE YOU F(#@$#KIN BAS#@*$ARDS.
If my out burst offends anyone, tell a spammer, and delete this post. /end rant
P.S. Fortunatly enough though, as some may know I email through hotmail, and having my email account for 1 year, I have only recived one peice of junk mail, and it was a phishing site for Paypal. Seems like Microsoft got something right.
