Client on server works great, but when I try client to server over LAN is when the fireworks start. :)
My problem is that when I connect to my server I have this weird super run fast, do everything fast. This is out of control fast just tapping the keyborad sends you across the zone. My character just slides instead of running, also all the NPC's move this way too. I turned GM speed off on this account too.
If I run the client again from the server it works great. Has anyone seen this problem or is it me?

Thanks for the help and the great EMU work.

What kind of CPU do you have? I wonder if this is one of those core duo affinity thingies.

One is a core duo and the other a core 2 duo.

I have this problem as well on my wifes computer which is running the server. It has a amd dual core processor. Usually have to exit right out of the game to get it back to normal.

The machine that is having a problem is the intel e6600 core2 duo. I found that I can hit the launcher button then go into task manager and select the launcher process and select affinity. Disable one of the processors under the affinity tab.
This has solved the problem for me.

Thanks for all the help.

No, say it isnt so. Our Core 2 Duo processors can not suffer the same piss poor hardware/software issues as the lame AMD processors. I refuse to belive it. As a matter of fact, I do not suffer from that "Hi, My Name is Flash and I love Crack" syndrome on my E6300 or my E6600 running Vista Ultimate and XP SP2 respectivley. I have never seen anyone with Intel suffering the Dual Core problems that your talking about, only AMD X2 users.

Hmm, pondering wether or not your C2D is a X2 in disguise....

*You have been Smacked for 8000 damage

Nope, its a C2D. Now if you dont mind, Im going to go cry now.... /sigh

actually the amd patch is not the only one you need if you have not done this one yet, i have an am2 4800 and i was having nothing but problems with the chop issues, so after a little more research i came up with a microsoft patch i have applied this to a couple dual core and worked for both and it settled down completely but i would still get the amd optimizer to help it's issues out some. hope that helps a little, should work for both lan and internet play on all levels of games

Note to Vista users...

I've not had this problem for a couple weeks now and I'm not sure why but I just experienced this tonight.

Quick fix was setting process affinity for the eqgame.exe to only one of my CPUs.

I run:
AMD 5600+ X2 on a ASUS M2N32 SLI Deluxe
With 4GB DDR2 800 RAM (only get 3.25GB with 32-bit)
1.8TB combined 7200RPM SATA HDDs
Radeon x1650pro 256mb PCIe
Game Theater XP 6.1
Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit
