There is SO little info available about them.. how to place them, how they work... door types.

Probably the one I've been going CRAZY trying to figure out is this: how does one make them solid if they are not already when placed (such as rocks, logs, even actual doorway doors)?

Beyond that, what different opentypes are there?

How does it all work?

Please, can we start sharing info about doors? I will personally add it to the wiki if nobody else does once this information is shared.

Please, if you can, just post what you know. They are so vital to the game and are pretty much a mystery still.

Thank you.

Pretty much everything you need to know about doors is here:

http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=EQEmuDBSchemadoors

and:

Any other questions just ask, doors aren't all that complicated really.

I cannot agree that they are that mystifying, no offense. As a emu noob last year, I found and placed the Guild Hall and Bazaar facades in PoK with limited knowledge. But I do agree, more info is better. And code diving is starting to melt my brains... placement is my biggest enemy. I don't think they believed in a 360 degree "circle". ;)

What I meant was that it's difficult to find the door names and door values anywhere, as far as I know there is no master list.

Also, placing doors and objects in zones that are not global is also tough.

How does one browse the object files to find out which door is where (NOT all doors in zones are actually used).

Also, if someone wants to build an object file for a particular zone, how would one go about that? How does one make doors and objects solid? Rocks you can walk right through is rather lame. So are doors (as in doorway doors) that players can walk right through.

No, doors themselves are easy. Everything else about them though is not.

I live in the s3d files, myself. While confusing, there's lots of cool stuff in there. I am not a big fan of forcing users to download and patch thelr files just to play on my server (which Zeb apparently had, unfortunately) so I have no idea how to repackage. But there are tools up the wazoo for this stuff. Wiki, GeorgeS, Sourceforge, google. =)

I know... and I've been trying for months to make sense out of it.

What I want to do is add custom (non-SoE) objects to the world, or at the very least make objects and doors that should be solid but are not, solid.

What I am saying is that if anyone that knows this stuff would step forward and please make a wiki page or something, it would be very appreciated.

..and the biggest problem I see, and what makes this so difficult, is know what the possible values are (for example, door names that work and what they are).
