Couple of Questions

Hello, its been awhile since I have been here. About 3 to 4 years ago I had a server running however it never did really work all that well. Some of the problems I had was a item vanishing bug and frequent disconnects. I had a custom server with new items etc and was told that was the cause of the item vanishing bug.

Far as the disconnects go my Cable modem service was not quite as fast as it is now. Since then they have upgraded my download and upload speeds to 5 Mb/s download, 512 Kb/s send. I also have a much better PC that I can use for the server. Before it was a very junky PC with a amd duron 800 and 512 megs of ram and a whopping 2 gig HD. I have another PC sitting around that is fairly decent. ITs got a Athlon 1700+ 1 gig of ram and a 60 gig HD running Windows XP.

Just wondering if the item vanishing bug is gone and will my PC/connection be fast enough to run the server now? Before I think it was 1.5 down and 256 upload last time I tried it. The players usually would go LD when they would group together and attack the same mob. I was told at the time it was probably because my upload speed was too slow.

I think the item poof problem has been licked - I have a post with some links that might better help your connection;

Look good at the cable-dsl and speedguide links, they helped me a lot. Your upload speed should be ok for a decent amount of players, just so long as your cable connection stays strong, and you don't catch any "prime time lag" (read the links)

Thanks for the info. Checked those sites out and as of 9:30pm EST my download and upload speeds are pretty much what they are supposed to be. I think I am gonna give it another shot. I hope I can remember how it was done, luckily there are plenty of good guides floating around here though.

Finally got some time to start working on this. I have followed the some what new guide that I found on the forums and it is great! While going through the process I am at the point that tells me I need to choose between ProjectEQ or AngelX database. I am not sure where to go at this point. I want a custom server as in completely different spawns, items, quests, etc. Can I simply skip this part, or do I need to go ahead and pick one and then somehow delete it later on?

I did some searches on the forums but ended up with topics that were completely off-topic.
