I installed EQ Titanium. Went in and changed the eqhost.txt correctly (checked several times). Also created a shortcut for my eqgame.exe and added patchme to the end of the target. However when I go to run the shortcut I get:
eqgame.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Any suggestions?

Im Having the same exact problems.
and i checked for my EverQuest.log so i can post what was input into the log , but due the the error the OP stated its not writing any data into the Log.
now if i run the SoE patcher and cancel it , ill get data input in the log but thats the only way i see anything in the Log file.
Ive tried deleting the log and runing the modified eqgame.exe (which is correct) and the EQhost file is setup correctly (to my Knowledge) with no Trailing spaces in EQhost , and patchme in the target of eqgame.exe.
not sure if the fact that im running a intell core 2 duo processor is the problem ?

There are definitely issues with dual cores. Try pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and select the processes tab. Then, start eq and you will see the new process start in the list. Right click that processes and select "set affinity". This will set EQ to run on 1 processor instead of both. Although I think that particular issue only shows up once you actually get in game.
From the sounds of these posts, this error is starting before you even get to the login window.
If you are having problems getting that far, you might want to verify you are running good video card drivers and have directX 9 installed.
I suspect the issue is most likely caused by a resolution problem. Check your eqclient.ini and try setting windowed mode or changing the resolutions. I am sure you can find example configs on the EQLive site or from google, if you can't figure out how to change it on your own.

I've had this problem recently on two installs on two different machines, and on both it seemed to have been caused by widescreen monitor resolutions. if you're using a widescreen, or a funky resolution, maybe try dropping it down to 1024x768, starting the game, setting the windowed and full screen resolutions to the widescreen resolution in-game, and then changing the windows resolution back.
*shrug* might have nothing to do with your problem, but it's worth a shot.

I had the exact same problem. Someone posted their eqclient.ini. Just copy-paste it to yours and it will work fine.

I got it fixed , but for me the fix was taken from a few differant threads.
Firstly it was both the Wide Screen Monitor (resolution actualy) 1680x1050 so droped it down to 1280 x 1024 (when i play ) another thing i had to do was download Affinity the link can be found under the AMD / Intell Quad Core Thread and Setting EQ to use Core 0 (core zero).
Also have not tried to uncheck Compatability with (win 98)
Also note from previous experince with games, i tried (not sure it helped , but can help with some other games etc..) i added Eq to be excluded from DEP (Data Execution Prevention) found by right clicking My computer and going to Properties , which will bring up system properties , now goto advanced tab under performance section hit settings button , now on new window goto DEP tab.
Thank you guys for your speedy response :)

It was happening before getting into the game, the fix for that so i could get into the game was the Resolution Drop , Not sure if all Wide Screen Resolution users have to do this , but i had to.. Just drop Reso down to 1280 x 1024 or so. and you should be able to load in.
