This is an odd problem. Most people complain about their framerates being too low. My problem is that the frames render too fast and it chokes the system.
My card is a 8600 GT Nvidea in a HP Pavillion dv9000. It renders to fast, by fast I mean fast and uneven. Any Ideas?

It doesn't matter any more, now it wont go beyond the server select. It seems the client has to be in windowed mode or it won't go in.
I figure it has something to do with this being a Vista laptop and me running XP. Every day seems a bit worse than the last T-T

Sounds like a classic case of a Dual Core CPU to me. Download a program to set the CPU affinity and set eqgame.exe to use one core and your problems will go away. The problem is that the titanium (or lesser) client doesn't properly work with dual core CPUs. Until the EQEmu team figures out how to use the most recent (SoF era) client, you will need to bind the game to only 1 core. Here is a link to the one I use http://www.geocities.com/edgemeal_software/.

Sounds like the problems I had when I first started out, Kayot. It definitely sounds like a dual-core processor issue. Running Vista on this laptop with dual-core AMD processor.
Even simpler than Annihilator's suggestion, try to right click your EQ shortcut and go into the properties. On the Compatibility tab, change it to Windows XP compatibility mode. See if that does the trick for you :)
EDIT: Just re-read your post; you have a Vista laptop but you're running XP? Okay then. If you're running XP, try changing the compatibility to Windows 98. If you're running Vista, change it to compatibility for Windows XP. That's fixed three out of three systems that I've had dual core issues with. So much easier than setting affinity. Leave binding affinity to soulbinders =P

Installing Vista fixed the problem. Though with Vista on my comp I feel dead now.
