I played EQ from from the very beginning until a couple months ago when I finally decided I didn't enjoy playing much any more and quit. Now I stumbled upon this site and was intrigued of the possibility of running my own so I set up MySQL and EQEmu. Can't wait for the release of 0.3.4 (my version of EQ was so old I had to patch) so while unable to play locally for now I tried to play on the Hogiebane server. Made a few characters but usually got disconnected right away but finally managed to stay online for a few minutes. Raised my lvl to 60 just fine, found and cast SOW on myself (though it had the wrong particle effect, didn't give an item and didn't seem to have any effect;)) but couldn't for the life of me make any items. No matter what I was searching for with #itemsearch I always got 0 items found. So what's with #itemsearch on Hogiebane, do you have to use a special syntax, or are there short item names (like the short zone names) you have to search for? I just typed

#itemsearch shortsword of ykesha (or swiftwind or whatever)

Nobody can get items, there aren't any in the item database.

Mostly because server is testing latest version of emu and looking for bugs and such.:p

Sure, but wouldn't it be much easier to test if one could actually do something?:D I had horrible problems with disconnects and unavailable zones (odd considering they were zones where these characters spawned at creation) and when I managed to get on for a few minutes all I could do was walk around a bit and play with my level and stats...

Play around with your spells,go to diff zones, try races. Go to fear and kill CT or stuff like that :D

What is the point of dealing with items if they are still working on getting the client server connection stable, and fixing the opcodes they send?

Right, more important thing to work with than item DB
