I have just moved to a wireless connection with router and now I cannot access any servers in the server selection screen. I'm guessing I have to do some kind of configuration on my router? I dunno....Hope someone can help me out. Cheers

You need to give more info. Was it working before? You were on the same network, but wired? Or are you on totally new network? Are you on your home network, or in a college dorm, or work? When you say you can't access any servers, does that mean that the server list is blank, or does that mean that after you try to connect to a server you get sent back to the login? Please be more descriptive.

Thanks, would help if I was more descriptive aye lol.
Originally I was on AOL Broadband modem (wired).
I have changed to AOL Wireless Router.
Before I switched I could log in, sometimes with difficulty, but eventually I would get in.
It is a home network, when I log in, the server selection screen is blank and nothing appears.
My router is a Speedtouch Thomson 585.
There is something in the settings I can see about TCP/UDP port ranges, but I'm unsure what to do properly without messing something up

these arre the options I can amend:-
Game or Application Definition
A game or application is made of one or more TCP/UDP port ranges. Each incoming port range can be translated into a different internal (local network) port range. Port ranges can be statically assigned to devices or dynamically assigned using an outgoing trigger.
Protocol###Port Range#####Translate To ..#Trigger Protocol#Trigger Port
TCP/UDP### ________ #####__________ ####TCP/UDP/ANY## ________

Seems to me, if I follow you correctly...you went from a standard modem to a modem/wireless router combo device? So now you are connecting through a wireless connection, instead of using a hard wired scenerio? Just trying to follow you on this. If you are using it wireless now, try using a hard wire, and see if that corrects it. Reason I say that, a few of my laptops using their "built in" wireless cards only get a full server list to show about 5% of the time. Had to buy some PCMCIA wireless cards, and that fixed them right up. I assume for whatever reason the built in device was not transmitting/revieving packets quick enough. No true info on why it did that. But this may only help if you are using a laptop.

I use a desktop PC with plug in wireless adapter. This morning I connected up using a direct wired ethernet connection but still no joy. I am sure it has to have something to do with this dam router....if only I knew exactly what :(

okay, I've been doing some fiddling and searching and it seems that I have to add games and applications to the router to allow connection.
I need to know the 'port maps' if this makes any sense? And something about port ranges, trigger ports....???

okay....I re-installed my old DSL Broadband Modem tonight, and hey....worked first time. It's definately a router problem or wireless problem...just not sure which and what configurations need to be made...I'm stumped. I may end up having to return the whole package and stick to this crappy thing *cry sob*

Sounds like there may be some kind of security settings on your new wireless router/modem combo. Normally just to play on emu servers, you don't have to open any port ranges. I know AOL tends to dumb stuff down considerably. Maybe they have some weird security thing that blocks ports or blocks some kind of packets that you need to get connected. You can always try adding the port range of 5998 to your router config and see if that helps. That should be all you need to be able to connect. This definitely shouldn't be required on most networks though.
I know proxies can block ports, so maybe the router is doing some kinda port blocking. I wouldn't be too surprised if AOL put something like that in their equipment to "protect" their users. You could probably call their custom service support and see if they can figure it out for you.
