This server is a friendly place to reminisce about the good ole days of playing everquest when things were far simpler than today. This server is a great example of what EQEMU can be, and an amazing experience to be pulled back through time to the classic world of everquest. If this intrigues you in the slightest, please read about what this server is here for.
.
.
.
What Is This Place?

We are CKV_Classic Progression server, this server consists of a small group of players whom wish to experience everquest again as it was, and how it should have remained. We are a progression server in which over the course of the next 10 months we will hopefully be progressing through Kunark and soon Velious. Currently the server is running pure old world zones, with hundreds of mob's removed, replaced, or completely re-added to make the everquest world feel as it was when we all began.

This server will NEVER progress past Velious, we will take our time on each expansion, so you are free to explore the world we once lived in, make friends along the way, and fight in exciting old dungeons you never experienced in the old game.
.
.
.
Why Play Classic When You Can Play 5x EXP?

This server focuses on the path, not the destination. The players here may sometimes be in for the long 18 hour grind, or may be around for only 2, chit chatting, tradeskilling, and relaxing. But dont get me wrong, we have a strong core of hardish core gamers whom are wishing to experience the endgame, we even ahve a few level 30's. But dont be frightend off, this community has and will always be accepting to new members who are wishing for a challanging, exciting and all around great world to play in.

You may say this server is slow exp, crappy loot, and is too hard, but this is how everquest was, this is how everquest should have remained, a nostalgic wonderful world where friends are actually friends and getting a small increase in armor was a major accomplishment. We are here for the long haul and we hope we can have a great flourishing community very very soon.

Why We Want YOU!

This server represents some of the best times in everquest, whether it be your first time playing or your ninth year around, we are welcoming all people to make the community great. We have an average of 10 - 15 players on at most times, with our peak around 25, but as most players know we are going to need a stronger playerbase to complete such daunting tasks as Nagafen, Lady Vox as well as the Planes. There are hundreds of small encounters many of us missed the first go around, and many large encounters made trivial by loot and experience for us later on, we are getting the opportunity to have these moments again and we hope you want these great experiences aswell.

But we don't want raid fodder or mere bodies for encounters, we want friends, community and a sense of family on the server. We want you to play so when you log off at night you smile at the funny jokes, friendly banter and terrifying fights that you will have, not just to get that next peice of equipment or to get that next level.

We want a community for Mature, Respectable, Great people to come and join us for another round of Classic EQ that many of us missed back in the day

So come give us a try, I promise you will have fun!

Since I'm a guy who played this server I'll tell you guys about my experience.

Kind of long but it pretty much covers everything.

First time I came in (I was one of the first ones to play the server) noob armor quests and weapon quests were made that were overpowered (for classic era). We voted them off and they got deleted off the server. People who did the quest got to keep them and not lose their work but many just deleted them to be fair.

Found a couple non-classic items/ npcs etc. here and there but they were quickly reported and taken out.

Now the server (in my opinion) started to get filled with a-holes and the quality players left. Quality as in they were kind and I enjoyed listening to them/ their company. Bot-haters spammed alot and bothered us all. Weird how it seemed the bot-haters bothered me more than the boters, who were willing to kick out a group member for me if I ever wanted to join.

A bot guy even got trained by some a-hole. I think the major bot players are gone now but I could be wrong. Players have left but some are coming in as well. Population is a little lower than before but with luck should come back to where it was or better.

Ok enough about bots. The playing experience itself is great. Pok books and anything that doesn't remind you of classic is taken out. Nobody has reached lvl 50 yet in the maybe 2 and a half weeks the servers been up, maybe more weeks. So I know the xp rate is adjusted accordingly.

We have our weird little lag problems occasionally but for the most part it rarely happens. The gm is also pretty cool, and delt swift justice to a corrupt gm he had on the team.

I reccomend anyone try the server and even stay there for a while. I myself am not as active anymore because the community (not all of it) is pretty bad considering how small it is.

Sounds like you've got a great server going Cvinion, and LizardNest's testimony attests to it. Keep up the good work :)

Thank you all for your support, this server is however not my creation, I am just one of the members of the server looking for a little publicity for our OP. All the kind words are greatly appreciated and I wish to thank everyone whom is contributing to this thread.

I would also like to add, our community is very friendly, there are however a few things that will cause an outburst from the people here, and that is Macroquest or MQ2. We have recently found two people whom were 6 boxxing using this cheat program, and although we have no say upon Kick's, ban's and the like we will still blacklist that player from the server's traders, friends and community.

That being said our administrator has just added an IP limiter to the server, now we can no longer worry about the 6 man group, there is a maximum of three accounts per IP address. So please come visit us, were a wholesome, clean, friendly environment where you can have tons of fun in a Classic Style!

This server has really progressed in the past two weeks or so.
Hill giants have been returned to rathe mnts, the frogs have been kicked backed into guk (and the trolls have proudly returned), rubicite drops off mobs in the old (classic) Cazic-Thule.

There is an amazing GM who does most of the work, but he has people who do nothing but edit the database, and with the new server, and dedicated internet connection, server uptime is about 98%.

There are craftsfolk on the server - we have high level backsmith(s) and a jewelcrafter already!

The best part?
The community!

Died and your corpse is camped by a ticked off sgt. slate or angry sand giant? No problem, there are clerics who are camped all over just WAITING to rez you!

Forgot to bind? I know two druids and a wizard who usually stop exping to get you a port and a bind to wherever you need to be.

Really want to play that _Class_Name_001?
Go for it. There are always people leveling who need that extra member!

Classic EQ is the way to go. Come on in and give it a shot. We usually have at least a dozen dedicated people on during evening (EST) hours, although i have seen was a smooth 40+ before.

Come on in!

Final thoughts:

PROs: rubicite, manastones, community, comradary, clarity.

CONs: You will have so much fun and nostalgia you may forget about other servers!

I can say nothing bad about this server in my time spent playing (I am now a level 40 SK.).The layout has been changed almost everyday to help bring it closer to the classic EQ that we all know and love. The players in general have been very nice (the botters and bot haters have been a problem as both of the parties have been very childish but are now either gone or quite).Jenco has been on everyday working out anything that is not right and very open to what we have to say when he changes content to make it more like classic as possible.I can safely say in my opinion this is the best PVE server on the list for players that want a true challenge and great friends.I hope to see you in game as "Bashy the Troll" and if you find me fishing send me a hail and I will give up some of my catch so you can eat well :-D

Forgive me for being blunt about this. I have no interest in trashing your work as I like classic EQ quite a bit - but I do have a question I'd like to see answered and I think it's only fair for everyone else you're trying to get to play on your server if I do it in public:

What makes this Classic EQ Trilogy Server different from the one you ran back in fall of last year, jenco? What makes me want to take you at your word that you are going to stick around this time and not disappear into limbo without even telling your GMs about it like last time?

Those are questions I'd like answered before I spend time leveling a classic char on your server... again.

This is a great server, I play here regularly and the player base is starting to increase.

Jenco patches every night with tweaks. Give it a shot and make your own opinion.

I am very interested in trying this.

I've got the Direct2Drive Everquest Evolution version, which has all but the very newest expansions if not all of them.

If I update it fully, do I have the required version to play on this server?

I hope this hasn't happened again. I'm currently taking a break from the server but I intend to come back when Kunark launches; however, the website and server has been down for about a full day now without a word, and that has never happened before while I've played on this server. Let's not cry foul just yet, though it is a little odd.

As for Jenco as an admin, though I didn't play on his first server, I have no major complaints. He puts in a lot of work and keeps the server more stable than many other emus that I've played. The playerbase is a mixed bag, but that will always be the case. One of the best Classic servers I've tried, definitely. Once it gets all adjusted and fine-tuned with a few critical bugfixes, it should be as close to the real deal as you can ever expect to get.

I hope Jenco lets us know what's up.

I heard the EQ CLassic Project was pretty much stolen from tcsmyworld and that they cant get it to work properly cause he gave them the wrong db and they basicly had to start from scratch, least thats the rumor though this might not be the same server but if it is it serves them right that its shut down. That might or might not be true. If you want to waste precious minutes of your life you can search for the relevant treads full of inflated egos, exorbitant expectations and hurt feelings on these forums. At least in involved parties made a clean break from the main project and don't come back to haunt us.

though this might not be the same server but if it is it serves them right that its shut down.

I am pretty sure this server had nothing to do with eqclassic. So I don't see any relevance for your posting in this thread. And no, I don't support that project in any way.

Wrong. EQClassic wants nothing to do with EQEmulator.

Secondly, where are you getting these facts? The only thing that was stolen was the 1.8 eqemulator source, which is open-source. How can you steal an open-source project, care to explain?

You act as though a database contains a codebase. EQClassic doesn't need to be given a database; instead, they code from a codebase to adapt an existing schema. You can't just expect any old schema to work 100% with all info working correctly. At least not in 1.8, hell, mob pathing isn't even in 1.8 and they're getting it to work.

So, before you get your panties in a bunch, please, get your facts straight cole. As for tcsmyworld, nothing was stolen from him; the only thing he contributed was his database, which had items in blobs and was useless as far as i'm concerned, minus the zone_points table, which i'll give credit for it anyway.

Thieves suck

Funny you should say that. Didn't you post a texture pack of unoriginal textures and models here?
