I have uninstalled EQ from my system and don't have much hard drive space left, I have probably enough to just hold EverQuest with no expansions at all. Can I still play on the Emu with no expansions? or are they required?

You can play with any combination of expansions, or lack thereof. You just can't go to any zones you don't have files for.
