What is the # for before the name? I thought it was to # it out like in vi, but now i'm not sure... I see some quests setup like that and they still work. Is it there so that they aren't activated when the zone boots up or something?

It denotes a special "version" of that NPC.

Oh ok, so if I looked for the NPC in the database I should find one with that same # at the front of his name as well? Thanks

Yup. That'd be right.

I use it a lot on my server to note a named or boss NPC. So, I can easily look through my NPC list for a zone and see all of the nameds quickly. It also works nice to be able to sort by name and have all of the named in 1 section.
