We are looking for a few good gimps (newbie devs to us that is). You must know SQL &&/|| tcp/ip && C/C++ in a Linux &&/|| Win32 Environment. You must be 3l33t like me (Hogie), and have an affro.

Compensation includes talking to Lyenu, making faces at image, and getting to be in the same channel as me. Being able to login to locked servers and do systemwide messages are also included in this package:)

Please apply in #eqemu on irc.trifocus.net. You will get to help with the project some and when you prove yourself as a valuable member of our team, you will get to be added to the group pictures:)

Lets get the development rolling on this project again!

You are the man Hogie, glad to see someone stepped up to put the jumper cables on the nipples of this mother !

You were always my FAVORITE! LMAO

Whatever happened to Malevolent? He was doing some ass kicking stuff, and theCoder is pretty awesome if ya ask me...

Oh an I also have moved onto other things. It has been a blast but things change. I'll hang around the message boards from time to time to check on status cause this project fascinates me.

Hmm im thinking may be the developers are getting frustrated or bored seeing the client protocol keeps changing, i know it would piss me off :P Once i can figure out how to convert everquest zones correctly to a format like .bsp than ill write a new everquest client :P

ive gotten the zones to a 3ds format, but none of the texturing is there. And then i made aprogram that read the zones, applied 1 texture to the WHOLE thing. You could walk around and stuff but the scaling was off.

Its possible, just need more info on texturing and stuff.

Hmm 3ds, thats 3dmax right? I think 3dmax will export to bsp not sure tho. See my plan is to take lets say the quake2 engine, convert all the combat, magic etc code from this emulator into a server for quake, hack the menus some get soem mouse garbage going, and wala a working everquest that protocols never change :) I did something similiar before for a failed project called Quakemud, later named Everquake, are dev team fell apart tho, and it was with the quake1 engine which uses quakec which sucks it up.

Hey, thanks! I still come around here once and a while, but I've gotten a new job and moved across the country, so I don't have as much free time as I used to. Which is unfortunate, since there are several things I'd like to do for this project, but that's the way it is. Maybe I'll find some time on the weekends or something. Or I guess I could stop wasting all that time sleeping at night, but since I stopped playing EQ live, I've gotten used to sleep again :) It really is kind of nice....

well, boo hiss I liked that mini login :P

anyways heres my app if ya need somebody to push around and I kinda have the flattop fro going.

I have done some modifications to the source code on my server back on version 2 if i remember. I was able to successfull get archery, forage, backstab working because they where not yet done.

Languages I know are basic, vb, c++/c, pearl, some xml/html/asp. I am also good with SQL.

As far as tcp/ip I know little to nothing. Only tcp/ip program I have ever written where to check server status and information then display it to whom ever uses the program.

Hell, i was just thinking about my idea, and a new client really isn't needed now. Mine as well let Verant do there work on it now, and wait to do a new client when Everquest 1 is no more. So here is my application to help you guys here:P

Education: Computer Programming Degree (PTEC)

Languages Known: Language Level Years

C/C++ Intermediate 3
RPG Basic 4
Visual Basic Intermediate 2
Basic Advance 12
Cobol Basic 12

I have written 7 muds myself, and have helped work on 3.
I have written 1 mmorpg myself, using the quake 1 engine, which was later scrapped, was codenamed Quakemud. Quakemud was in a fully playable position.
I know close to nothing about TCP/IP or any other net protocol.
I know close to nothing about SQL.
If you have a position for me, email me at killstheweak@hotmail.com .

I would love to help, but I don't really feel like going on the IRC room, LOL. Anyway, here a my "requirements":

* I work in Visual C++ 6.0 and have experience from programming myself and in computer science classes in school.

* I have used Linux before and may be able to help w/ supporting that. Actually, I have Linux Mandrake 8.2 as my alternate OS on this machine.

* I have created my own server compile from 0.3.3.1 which included: added simple, yet effective skills that had yet to be coded; changed privileges (only had common member, GM, Lead GM, and ServerOP); and worked on cleaning up "less efficient" code.

I'm not the greatest programmer out there, but I can help. Get back to me if you'd like. I would also like to add that I have programmed in QBasic for about 6 years, Visual Basic for about 5 years, and C++ for about 2 years. I work well in HTML (as you can see at my website), but am not that good with SQL.

I would love to be apart of this project

-I can program pretty decently in C++
-I know Win32 efficently
-I can use WinSock
-I have no life so I can work up to 8 hours a day

The only thing I lack is Linux knowledge thanks

Oh yeha my email is gator2eterni@hotmail.com thanks

I am currently an undergraduate computer science student, so most of my experience is academic.

I know C++ and have been programming with it for the past three years.
I am pretty familiar with UNIX/LINUX programming, however I do not know much about programming in the Win32 environment.

I have taken a course on database in the past year, which of course included SQL.

I have also taken a course on computer networks last semester, which covered TCP/IP programming using Winsock and BSD sockets.

You can contact me at ttwang@directvinternet.com.

I code in C++ and am familiar with both linux and windows.

I do not know how much help I can be but I intend to be poking about in the code anyway. (have to since there is not much of a manual for this emu) So I might as well contribute back as I fix bugges and make minor improvements for myself.

Can anyone tell me if the EQ (tm) client runnes under wine. And if so which version? My compiler is GNU Gcc under linux. I will be getting Ming or some other port up in windows soon be since I put window XP on my system My Borland 5.x has been rejected by the OS as incompatable. Which up till now was fine. I only use windows for gaming anyway. If I am doing something serious I do it in Linux. Borland 5.x instead of builder ought to have told you that.
