I'm new to the scene here, me and some friends are running a classic pre-luclin server and we've become very interested in custom content developement. I myself used to map for games like quake2, unreal, and half-life mods and was trying to figure out how one would go about mapping for EQemu. What tools do I need, what tools does our server need, what's a beginner trial I can use to get started to test things (a big box with a connected zone and one test npc), and things of the like. I know this is a lot to throw out there, but I wanted to talk to someone who has made their own zone/npc's to let me know what it's like, and what problems I'm going to run into.

Between our small dev team we'd like to be able to create some new content, and right now mapping is about the only thing we've got no clue on, so any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated.

And if this is covered somewhere already, I apologize, it just seems info on mapping itself seems a bit scarce off the search bar.

Thanks for all the links, I did the tutorial in OpenZone to get me orientated. I know I'm going to run into a lot of questions along the way, but I was going to see if there are any in depth tutorials out there I can reference. Also, what do people usually do for the dungeon editor? I'm guessing they just export it then open it in OpenZone to set everything specific to EQ that they need, but I'm not sure how to get all these tools to work in harmony.
