This is just my 2 cents of a server design that would make everyone's day.

I think someone should design a custom item's database server with custom Gear quests for certain levels (20, 40, 60, 75) no custom spells keep that eq like along with Zones too.

I think it should have bots to. Get rid of the raid system for bots but instead fix the raid system for players and let each player have up to 1 group of bots per player. (This means 7 real players = 7 full groups which in live is a real raid!, making it so you can change the raid boss's stats back to normal)

I also loved the raid addicts quest setup (the quest viewer is awesome).

Tone down the exp rate. The reason so many people played eq live for so long was because they had to. 2x exp is fine, 3x AA is fine. Add some nice quest exp and give EverQUESTS name a meaning.

The #zone function, and custom teleport takes away from the epicness of the world.

Its all about making the game playable and fun, and if you loose track of that like Soe did then you make the game feel dull like a bad repetitive job. So make the storyline through levels and quests long and not the drop rate impossible. Add some comedy to the Npc communications and make the world fun.

I would just like to add-

by custom items I do not mean make the items super godly instead make the quest reward items progress in stats over the quest start levels. Then the raids will drop the better items.

The bots you will still have to gear up. This will mean the quests will have to ask you what reward you want by class. Then the raid boss's will drop class specific items.

The reason I will not even attempt to start my own server and design it to how I view it should is because.
1. I am enlisted in the U.S. Navy and I leave for basic training soon
2. My computer is shameful I bought it when I was 11 and now I'm 18
3. I am working on getting my E-3 pay scale before I leave and It is super time consuming and requires a lot of work.
4. I am not experienced with this open source EMU system and have yet to take a look at how it works and what coding language the program uses/ to see even if it already has functions for you to use or are you looking at a word like file filled with 100,000 lines of code.

Another thing I was thinking about is content for PvP. I view it would fit in and would be the only time you would need a custom teleporter npc and it would allow you to enter an open pvp field where you could go and kill eachother in PvP, or faction based PvP whatever the designer wanted.
