MYSQL which version

Ok I am wanting to run my own server and am having problems regarding Mysql The uide here tells me to uses 5.0.37 the pdf guide tells me to use 5.0.45 I can download 8.0 and the 2 you say to use but which one works best?
I am confused, any advice is appreciated.

I use the MySQL GA which is currently 5.1.x but the easiest to setup and get running is probably MySQL 5.0.x right now. There is also MySQL 6.0 but I've never tried it against EQemu.
