View Full Version : Cannot Change Shortcut Target

As the title may suggest, both Windows XP and Vista will not allow me to change the shortcut target of eqgame.exe to ["C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme]. If I run eqgame.exe, it will tell me to open Everquest.exe. If I try and change the target of everquest.exe to ["C:\Program Files\Everquest\everquest.exe" patchme] nothing happens.
Any thoughts on how to get around this?

Make sure you have the the right permissions for that - you probably need administrator permissions.

I am the administrator... it won't let me do it because it says the target does not exist.

Are you sure it is the eqgame.exe you are trying to change and not the Everquest.exe? Did you go into your Everquest directory and create a shortcut to desktop from your eqgame.exe?

Bump. I am getting this same error. I shortcut my eqgame.exe just like the help information here says, and then when I try to launch it (administrator or otherwise) it says "Please launch everquest.exe".
No information on this?

Just found out a fix. right-click your icon and go to properties. at the end of the "target" field, type patchme -w. that fixed it for me.
