Greetings-

Over the course of about two days, I've been playing with eqemu, and have a nice little world server running.

(House of Choad)

Several of my friends and myself have been playing on it to test, and think it's great. It's definitely got issues, but is a great foundation.

I'm an experienced programmer, have develeped muds, am well versed with databases (and mysql), and just want to know what someone like myself can to do help this project?

(Please don't say collect EQ data, because I have no EQ account and never plan to have one)

Generally get teh source, and solve some problems with it. get those changed to an op in IRC. Once it is seen you are willing to help, and able to, they might invite you to join the dev team.

But basically join IRC and go from there.

Hmm.. I guess to do that I would need to know what known problems exist and what's being fixed. I don't want to do the same development as another person...

Can anyone post items that are being worked on right now?

For instance, I get booted back to the server selection when I zone.

If this isn't being looked at, I can see if I can track anything down.
However, there's obviously a learning curve involved. :)

Off the top of my head,
ground spawns
forge/oven/ect type items
droped items
zoning - partly fixed?
AA Exp stuff
- no effect server side to having aa points assigned
- not able to set percent of exp to AA points (packetstruct order?)
spawn-type not in DB or used in emu (what bane body type is set to)
books don't work
pathing/ wanderers

But like I said, just get on IRC and chat with the ops/devs and ask there. That way they get to know you and what your trying to work on.
