Firstly, massive thanks to the folk who have made all this possible with their work. It is hugely appreciated.
I've been reading up for the last few days about how to set up my own server for playing at home. It seems the PDF download on this page (http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=ws992mysql5) is one of the better guides for a beginner (TechGuy84s guide). A fabulous step by step guide, but its now two years old, versions have changed and the site used to store data has changed.
So I'm kind of trying to use Techguys guide, alongside this guide on how and where to download the latest DBs, Quests and Maps. (http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=ProjectEQSVN)
i) Which version of EQEmu (http://code.google.com/p/projecteqemu/downloads/list?can=1&q=&colspec=Filename+Summary+Uploaded+Size+DownloadCou nt)would people suggest I use to start off with, to gain confidence in installing and to adapt for solo play ? Will a recommended version of EQEmu be compatible with the PEQ dB, quests and maps ?
ii) Is this Sourceforge link still relevant (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=88515) ? Are those map files (which appear to be dated 2005) still useful ?
I'd really appreciate a little help and advice as I've spent days and days reading through the forums and various guides.
Thanks :)
