Error 1001...Please help

Hi all

After countless hours of trying to get ethernalquest to run i finally gave up and decided to come to eqemu only to find the same problem.I downloaded the eq window program and edited my eq host file properly but it still brings up the error 1001 saying "Could not connect to everquest server.Please try again shortly". I'm using windows ME and the free full version of everquest....Can someone please help me out.

What eqhost.txt are you using? you must not be using the right one.

I fixed the eqhost.txt by changing .org to .net but now i get an error saying bad username/password......N e one know how to fix that?

Did you set up an account? And if your running login, are you using eqemu/eqemu for user/pw? Not sure right off hand the address to set up account, that be question for Shawn or one of the other devs, but I bet ya its on this site

I got my self an account and everything was fine....I was able to log into a server and commence creating a character but as soon as i was being logged into the world the client froze then i was brought to the server listings.....I tried creating a char in every zone and not one of them works.....wtf am i supposed to do.......It's driving me retarded these eq emulators......PLEASE some help.Does anyone have a working human paladin?...shiiiiiiz.

I don't play on this emu anymore for now, but I do believe its a bug. Are you running version 3.4 or 3.5? If you are using 3.4, I would recommend 3.5 beta5, which is located here: http://eqemu.sourceforge.net/downloads/

If thats the one your having troubles on, then switch to 3.4.

Is there anything i need to do to besides edit my eqhost.txt....I downloaded version 3.5 and still got the same problem.If you could please reply it would be appreciated....i'm not getting any sleep :/

Are you running a server? Or joining a server?

If you are running a server, there is a TON more to do.
If you are joining a server, then its the servers problem, not yours :)

Actually i'm just trying to play on a server not create one. Like.....I still get that bug even though i d/l 3.5 but i might have still not done something......Put it this way.....I need to know what to do besides just editing my eqhost.txt and playing in that eq window program. How does eq reconize i'm using 3.5 of the emulator??....
Now ahm friggin desperate to play lol....

I don't believe you need the emu to play on a server, you only need it if you want to create a server. So all you need to do is change eqhost.txt and log on with the user/pw you created. If you crash on one server, try another. Usually green named servers run pretty well.

I tried to play on about 7 different servers......Wtv......I'm gonna keep trying hopefully i'll be sucessfull and i can start playing.

I am not sure what would be wrong, I can't get on the emu to check, no EQ installed :( One thing though, did you run the patch update for EQ? You need the current patch unless otherwise stated on the forums, which I haven't seen any patch warnings, so it should be fine to update EQ. Hope this helps.

User Interface, EQ got a new one, it should install and tell you how to use it in the news after you download the patch for EQ

I'm lost now. I have absolutely no idea why it isnt working. There is one thing that comes to my mind...two actually. When i enter a server a screen pops up saying i am registered to shadows of luclin but no files are detected on my comp....THats one reason it may not be working.....The second is because I'm using the free download version of everquest, the game is full but it isnt the cd version. I'm gonna try to get shadows of luclin...if anything pops up in your head could you please mention it I seriously really wanna play. :) thanks

It should still work even if you don't have SoL, you just won't be able to make a cat or go to Luclin. Same if you don't have kunark or velious. If you only have the 3 main continents, you can only go to them. Not sure why it would not be working :( Post here if new problems come up, I will try and help ya

I'm so frustrated you can't imagine lol. I'm litterlay going crazy. I wanna play eq sooooo bad!!!:(.............btw what are the system requirements to play?

not sure on the system requirements, but at first I was running a 333mhz 64mb ram and 16mb vid card, now all that i changed was the ram from 64 to 320. Worked just fine with the 64. If you have worse than this, I would not be sure, it was fairly slow with my computer.

I have a 700 mhz and 64mb ram with sum freeky deeky intel gfx accelerator. Hopefuly I'll fall upon good luck and the emulator will magicaly start working.....Btw I'm using the FREE version of everquest. It's the full version but it's free. You think that might be the problem?

It should work fine, unless its the trial version you downloaded off the EQ website....

I got to join one sever, but when I did there were no monsters or npcs, started out with no food and no starting letter also.
