I just got through with a fresh checkout r762. Very excited about fear and charm.. but I think something may be wrong.

When I try to fear myself.. looks great, I get the LD tag and start going, but when the fear effect wears off, I continue walking.. LD, and cannot use any commands. (requires ctrl alt del). Same effect is true if I make a mob cast on me with #npccast as well as when I try to cast it on a fellow player. :T

When I try and charm someone, it says:

"Unable to cast charm on a fellow player."
(PCname) has been charmed.

But, they are definitely not charmed, but they do receive the buff for it.

-Did all the sql updates to 755.
-Found rules for fear and charm in the diff, added them with default settings.
-Had no errors.. and everything looks good.

Is fear/charm working for everyone else, or can anyone help me? Haven't seen posts yet :)

From what I've seen, the fear/charm was meant to be cast by an NPC. You should have gotten an "target immune" message when you casted fear on yourself.

I don't think I've ever received that message as a GM when casting fear on myself.

Making the NPCs cast it on me had the same LD effect though, feared way past duration time on spell, and then having to forcefully exit.

So this fear and charm was only meant for npcs to cast? Like, if players were dueling, they shouldn't fear/charm each other?

Players shouldn't be able to cast fear/charm on other players, the charm AI code doesn't even really handle it well yet so it's a good thing. Fear should also no longer last... forever.
