Steam version of Secrets of Faydwer Compatible?

It was unclear to me rather or not the steam version of the game works. Can anyone say for certain either way? If it did work, it would be great to be able to just purchase it from steam and download it.

I have had 0 luck finding the game locally. If not I could always order online from another source, but getting it from steam would be ideal.

You can run the game with Steam once you've installed it from the disks. I can nearly guarantee that the download will not work. You should order the disks from an online resource.
