Need expansions?

I am currently using the minilogin on 3.6 and it says that I have all three expansions but it cannot find the files required for them. I only have the original Everquest. I have read the FAQ and it says the emu should work without the expansions.
Do I need the expansions to play?
Is there a setting or something that I can change to not need the expansions?

EQEmu does not limit what expansions are avaliable (don't need to register an account key). BUT you must have the files installed.
