Has anyone recently been able to install and successfully play on an linux distro?

I'm running Slackware 13 on a dual core laptop with nvidia geforece go 7400

I'm going to try installing titanium with wine and:
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?d3dx9_30

in the same directory,

I'm also going to install directx runtime in wine but I don't know what release to install? 9.0c or the newest release?

Thanks,

Any help would be appreciated.

Also, what can I do about a dual core work around?

I've found this:
Third post down "Possible Graphic Anomoly Fix, or Gamespeed too fast " (http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=24;tips=1)

I'm at a loss on the linux front but this apparently works if you are having dual core issues:

Dual Core CPU Fix:
Dual (or Quad) Cores cause crashes, but has a simple fix.
1. Start EQEmu
2. Before logging into the login server, ATL+TAB out of the program and hit CTRL+ALT+DEL
3. Select the 'Processes' Tab
4. Find the eqgame.exe process and right click it
5. Select 'Set Affinity' and then chose CPU 0
6. Return to EQ and run like normal

Alternatively, if you are running an AMD processor, you can fix it by just installing the AMD Optimizer.

I have it running, but no character/npc models...

There is alot of info here:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8357

but no dice,

has anyone had any luck with EQ on linux lately?

I had EQEmu running on another distro and it was running darn great, unfortunatly I can't remember what distro I had it running on as this was about 6 months or so ago.

I've just recently started trying to get it running again on my new PCLinuxOS 2009.2 install and am having the same issue's as kr0w17.

No matter what I do or try I can't get character/npc/mob models to show. Now I'm not sure if it's due to my current distro or possibly driver related what have you, but I'd sure like to figure it out as I've been getting the urge to play recently and am unable too :(

In response to the d3dx9_30.dll install, you would need to modify the file yourself or you can download an already modified file from Angelique's site HERE (http://www.angeliqe.com/)

There is also the method of compiling wine from source (which I've tried unsuccessfully).

Both methods and some usefull information can be found HERE (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=2939)

My system specs incase anyone wants/needs to know (Maybe it's a hardware aka video card issue).

PCLinuxOS 2009.2; (KDE4.3.3) Kernel 2.6.26.8.tex3
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (1.8GHz)
3GB Dual Channel Ram
Asus A8N-SLI Motherboard (NForce 4)
Nvidia GeForce 9800GT Video (running Nvidia 180.22 driver - standard PCLinuxOS current driver)
Asus SAA7131 TV Tuner
NVidia CK804 with Realtek ALC850
WD 120gb (Primary)
WD 1TB (x3)
Logitech Z5500 Digital 5.1
Insignia 42" 1080p
LG 40X DVD Drive
LG 16X DVD/CD Burner

I'll try an keep notes on things I try successful or not and post back, I'd love any input or help regarding getting the models to show.

This is starting to drive me a little nuts ...hah
