Anyone play from Japan? I just got here and am studying for long-term. Is it okay to play from here? Or are ISP's different than the US.1 I know EQ isn't even sold here so its probably not much of an issue.

I played from Russia and Egypt with absolutely no problems what-so-ever. I wouldn't imagine Japan would be any different other than possible high latency.

Ah ok. I guess I mean do ISP's see anything strange when you are connecting to the public login? Or is it pretty much un-detectable. Not that anything would be done, since its a game sold in the US. But I just don't fully know internet laws here.

China has gameplay laws however I don't think it's controled on the ISP level. I think it's regulated by the server administrators of the game. For example, world of warcraft has to limit players from china to a certain extent by how long they play the game (according to rumor).
The ISP wouldn't care I'd imagine.

Yeah I wasn't thinking it would matter. I'm just curious if it can be known that I am playing an emulator of a game as opposed to an offical game.

As long as you don't give out any personally identifying information the chances of SOE finding out who you are is slim to none.
SOE would need our IP addresses to have much hope of finding out who we are and that would likely involve a very long and nasty court battle with the ISP's over privacy issues.

Yeah that's possible I know that my server has a strew of Chinese players we even have a few Chinese Guilds which aren't active anymore but there are also the CEQ servers which stands for "Chinese EQ" So there is a strong population here for sure from China , Taiwan, and honestly I have not seen too many folks from Japan.. That doesn't mean they aren't here though :)
One of the MAIN reasons I started Renting instead of hosting myself was because people from other countries could easily access my server with little to no lag..
