[EQClassicRemix]

Initial goal: To create a true classic (no expansions) Everquest Database which will work with the current EQ EMU.

- To make this database available for everyone as well.

Far reaching Goals: To establish a classic server and host GM events with raiding and new quests to keep players busy.

I would like to ask people to help me remove and adjust things by messaging me or doing /petition in the game. I have a daily goal of accomplishing a certain amount of fixes and will be checking /petition regularly.

I am currently staring at the LDoN camp and staring at the doors and objects in the database struggling to figure out what to remove. (HELP)

It isn't clear which database you are using as a base, but I suggest you have a look at the ax classic database (if you haven't already).

Even better, contribute the changes you make back into the project. Project1999 has the most accurate classic database, but it is not available for public use. You can, however, review their dev/change logs to get a general idea on things you would need to be working on.

Classic data gets harder to come by with each passing day, and requires some reliance on the fallible human memory. I wish you the best of luck.

well it took P99 devs almost a YEAR to tune PEQ DB into Classic DB, and they had half a dozen people on the team...

If you working alone... this may take you a more than a couple years =)

This project is mostly removing a LOT of the content and garbage that was added in over the years. I have a list on one of my dusty hard drives of all of the newbie quests items + quest givers. I'll try to dig it up for you.

These lists were given from the players of VTZek a long time ago in a dormant (or what seems to be) forum however its useful information none the less for someone trying to get that classic feel. The next step after removing all of these items + npcs is to find out if any of these npcs had classic quests tied to them or if they were just added. Also, it would be good to cross reference the required items for each set of gear so that you can remove the loot drops that SEVERELY clutter mobs.

Also, just to add in another note: You could reference the bugs section of Project 99' but I would start making a list first of priority changes that need to be made before any sort of beta is released. Don't start wiping players characters early in the game because you've discovered a mysterious mob dropping time gear.

They are supposed to be kos and I don't care what ANYONE says, the decaying skeletons in all newbie areas were NEVER kos in classic eq. They were always indifferent.

Update: Drowned Citizens are now KOS..... I remember "exploring" in my noobie days and falling in the dark water and not doing ANYTHING and getting WOMPED... =D

Are you sure? I'm not really certain. I remember pulling skeletons back in the day and some were definitely kos... but maybe not all of them

Anyway I may not get much more done tonight, I did enough for one day including the whole actual spawning of Khrix's Abomination for the eru cleric shield quest. (but the abomination spawns at carpet instead of in the little room behind Khrix cause I thought that made more sense... and I made it slightly more impressive. ::wink::

Decaying skeletons weren't kos, but did assist.

The skeletons to Paineel entrance were on Eru sk/necro factions, not everyone was kos. The zone origonally (well, ok origionally it wasnt even there, but..) just set you back to the entrance of it w/o any mobs there. Then before the zones opened up, the skeltons were added as a warning for players to be careful entering once it was available.

well it took P99 devs almost a YEAR to tune PEQ DB into Classic DB, and they had half a dozen people on the team...

And there are still lots of changes needed to make the DB as classic as possible.

The server was down for a while because for some reason my hosting along with my home internet was turned off due to illegal activity. It took me 5-7 days to get new hosting and switch to a new cable company at home.

They actually turned off my home connection around 7pm due to illegal music downloads.

The whole issue has it's roots originally with the police which have been monitoring my internet and contacted these hosting services which caused the hosting services to start spying on me.

No, I will not tell you why the police were interested in me. :rolleyes:

I would have posted sooner but I had no access to any internet for a time. (I have a 3G internet card but I never get any service with that either at least in my home and having to go park my car somewhere with my laptop just so I can get a wireless connection was too much work for me.)

I remember playing my first eq days in steamfont.. everything that did not con green was KOS. It Took me a freaking month to get 5 levels, my wizard had to "meditate" for 30 minutes to get a full mana bar. EQ at that time had a hard on for unsuspecting noobs, even guards and merchants would kill you after a few "beg's". That was my first death as I remember when I logged in for the first time and saw the beg button so I figured this guys in shiny armor would be compasionate so 5 begs later my avatar had it's first corpse run.
