Any ideas? I have the batch file set to "start eqlaunch.exe zone" the way the guide instructs...

How many dynamic zones are you set to load? I hit this when I only had 5, 5 players were in 5 different zones, and someone tried to zone to a 6th.

Right about now, your n00b alert should be going off....
I don't know how to set the dynamic zone config. I followed the basic Windows server setup guide, but it didn't really go into those details. I'll search around the forum for some guidance on that. But if I load four or five zones, what if I want to zone to one that isn't one of the ones already loaded up? Will it automatically start up that new zone?

P.S.: I'm running a solo server for me and one other in-home connection. No need to have lots of zones running.

OK, still working on this problem. I have updated the .Net framework to v4.0 client environment. I then added another ping line to my serverstart.bat file to see what happens, because I kept getting a message that disappeared to fast to read. Turns out that when the .bat file runs "start eqlaunch.exe zone", the message comes back "The system cannot execute the specified prorgam."
So, now I'm searching for something in the forum that addresses that error message. (I'm using rev1667) I'll update this thread when I find something that works. In the meantime, if anyone knows the solution, I'd love to hear it!

Are eqlaunch.exe and zone.exe in the same directory with the batch file?

Yes. Installed latest MS Visual C++, made sure .Net 4.0 is installed. Still no change. I saw a post a while ago about the size of the eqlaunch file, and that the smaller one (130k) was not desired, but a newer one (over 200k) worked for someone else. Mine is the smaller one, but now I can't find the thread with the link to the larger one.
Argh!

Mine is 135k and works fine.
It sounds like you're missing a dependency. Try downloading this and open eqlaunch.exe to see what it says is missing:

Weird that yours works, Iersxt. I found the link to the alternate eqlaunch executable (http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/showthread.php?t=27446) and downloaded it. As soon as I put it in place, the problem went away. I #zoned to Steamfont, walked into Ak'Anon, #zoned to PoK and the Guild Hall, all without error or hiccup.
I'm not a programmer, so I don't know why the 135k file would work for you and not me, but the 230k file worked for me fine.
At any rate, the problem is solved (for me and for now), and I'm moving on to test other functions. Thanks to all for the support and patience!
