Just Have A Simple Question

I don't need any help with downloading/installation.
I just wanted wanted to know if these four will work
together for a lan server? (6 puters on lan)
No clients will be on server machine.

Perl 5.10 (1007)
MySQL 5.0.85
EQEmu Server rev1664 (compiled from source)
PEQ DB rev 1667

I have all the other necessary programs (VS-2008, Navicat, etc)

Although it will be a private home lan server for the moment, I will
be letting a couple of outside friends connect to it.

But these did work together, using minilogin. Server started with no errors, but only problem I found so far is none of the NPC's will respond to "hail".
Merchants work fine, so far, but none of the NPCs will communicate.

Did you update your quests and maps? If you updated your quests did you put the plugins in the plugins folder?

I found a log (eqemu_quest_zone_1552.log) showing a problem with compiling quests and perl runtime errors. (After logging toon in to tutorial).
This is the only zone I have been in so far, since server was setup.
I cleared out both the /quests and /plugins folders and redid the SVN download. Still got the same error log.
I installed Activestate perl 5.10.1 (1007) and did the ppm entries before anything. Mysql 5.0.82 - DB ver 1667 and Emu ver 1664. (on Vista box)

Well I have never encountered that error before but I did a quick google search using the error in your log files. It might be a problem with your perl installation or possibly a misplaced dll file.

Since you are able to log into the game world I would not change the perl revision that you are using. However uninstalling perl, cleaning up after the uninstalltion and then reinstalling perl just might fix that problem.

I did a complete wipe of Perl (including any registry entries making reference to "Activestate" or c:\perl), also deleting the system32 file (perl510.dll)
I reinstalled the same version and got the same error logs for quests.
So I wiped the perl again and installed the 5.8 version of perl, BUT when I tried to start the server, it was looking for perl 5.10 and wouldn't start.
I did notice though, when I reinstalled 5.10 (before), a log was created in my normal windows user folder for the perl install and it had errors of not finding files. So.......back to the drawing board (chuckle)

If you change the Perl version you have installed you need to recompile the server files again. Remember how you setup the include paths in Visual Studio to point to Perl? Those are very version specific. Check them again to make sure they are still pointing to the right directories with your new Perl install, and do a full clean/compile again.

Well, Good news, Everything is working right (I think)(chuckle).
The perl 5.8 wouldn't work with the source compile. BUT after all that wiping and re-installing (in the end I put perl510 back on), I found out later that the whole problem was because of something I did from another post which suggested MAKING SURE to put the perl510.dll file in the system32 folder.
Now I find out, I had to delete it to make the quests/hails work. Sometimes a delay and have to hail a few times to get a response, but eventually it works.
ONE QUESTION though ??
After starting the server, the EQemuLogin Server window constantly updates with a 2 lines every 15 seconds;
"ServerOP_LSSTATUS: Status: 1 Players: 1 Zones: 5
"Updating status for server: (my server name)

Is that normal ???

UPDATE: I am noticing now, when I thought the "Hail" was delayed sometimes, its just a matter of standing REALLY close to the NPC.
I am too used to the "other" game. (chuckle).

UPDATE: Scratch that question, I edited the eqemulogin.ini and set the DumpPackets lines and Trace line to false and the login server window is not constantly showing update feeds.
