EQEmu server and 6-core chips ?

Just wondering if there is any known issues trying to run the server with a Phenom II 6-core chip ? I am in the process of building a puter with that chip, but thought I would ask, before wasting my time on an install.

IT shouldn't matter if you had 1 vs. any as the EMU is single threaded. I have 8 cores but the processor only uses 1. If its cheap, sure get it as the load balancing to OTHER programs will basically make it more responsive...a little. If you have money to burn, go for higher-volume/speed ram and/or a raid with stripping to make it as fast as possible.

Manually set processor affinity so that your zone.exe processes are spread out over the cores. Make sure you leave core 0 alone so that it can focus on the OS

There.. now eqemu is (kind of) multithreaded.

The Redemption uses 2x dual core xeons and i have the zones spread out over core 1 2 3 and the os using core 0

Its not a matter of running out and buying this chip for an eqemu server, I already have the chip, heatsink, etc and motherboard. Its just a puter I am building for general purpose, (waiting for more parts), to replace one of my older ones. I just thought, once I get it finished, I would see how the server runs on it.

My 2c

The short version is that it doesn't matter if it's single threaded or not. If an application was not written with multiple CPUs in mind, it may not run properly on a multi-CPU, multi-core system.

This is not to say it won't run, just that it may not be running as efficiently as it could.

** The Emulator is single threaded? Every zone is on the same thread??
