When I login I get this message

Error 1017: Cannot login to the EverQuest server.
You may need to rerun the Update Patch.
Repeatedly seeing this message indicates a loss of
connectivity to the Patch Server. This is usually temporary.

so i click "OK"
then i select the server i wish to connect to.
the loading screen appears and some stuff starts to load.
then im taken back to the login screen.

is there anyway i can solve this issue?

I'm no expert but it sounds like a problem I've seen before:

Are you trying to connect to a server you've successfully connected to in the past? It sounds a lot like the errors some people get when their DNS forwarding isn't working correctly.

Depends on what steps you've taken so far, really.

If you've set up your client to not patch to the official servers, set your Eqhost file to eqgame.exe and have successfully connected to the public server here...

Try connecting to a few different servers, a green one perhaps, and see if you can connect to any of them.

Sounds like you may not be using a supported version of the EQ client for EQEmu. Currently you need to run a fresh install of either Titanium (from retail CDs), SoF (Secrets of Faydwer from retails CDs or DVD), SoD (old Seeds of Destruction Starter Pack from Steam), or Underfoot (current Seeds of Destruction Starter Pack from Steam).
