View Full Version : Server status displays up versus player count

Hi everyone. Quick question:

Using Minilogin, I noticed on the server select screen of the client, the player count was displayed instead of "UP". When I switched to EQEmu's Login Server (after I found more current install instructions), it now no longer shows the player count, merely up. Is there a way for EQEmu to display that information? It seems the main login server has that capability and I assume it uses EQ Emu LS, so I assumed it can be configured somewhere.

(I compiled my copy of EQ EMu LS from the latest SVN contents).

Thanks!

(Oh, just a little bit about myself. I'm a new to the Emu community, but was an Everquest player for serveral years (About 10 between EQ 1 and 2). I've hosted other gaming servers (most recently a Microsoft Freelancer server (http://www.discoveryptc.com), and have spent the past week building, wiping out, and rebuiding a private EQEmu server. I think I've figured out about 80% of it at this point, and so far I have it up and running for internal and external clients, and I've managed to discover (and disable) GM commands for the new users -- my goal is a PvE, Legit server setup that I and friends can enjoy, that may open publically after I get a full understanding of the server and setup).

No, eqemulator.org uses its own Login Server that is closed source. The open source one was written a while back to give people more options. To change the up/down status to a player-count, I think there is a field in one of the packets that does it. It wasn't implemented into the open source LS yet, but may be at some point. Currently, I don't think it is high priority since it is "live-like" anyway. Though I do agree that it would be nice to have a toggle setting to let people switch to whatever they prefer.

Ah ok then. Not an issue at all. It's a nice feature that I would use if it was there, so I didn't know if I missed a configuration option. I would agree it's in the "nice to have" bucket however. I'm sure you guys have quite the list of to-do's.

Great job on the emu and thanks for the quick response!
