A few things you can try to minimize lag..

1) if your on the old ui of everquest..which is prob best to be on, a ton less lag..just go to your inventory screen, believe it or not, that reduces lag by alot.

2) i have only used this once..but you could try /serverfilter off

3) #datarate 10, i've noticed that actually dont change your setting in the datarate txt file in everquest folder, so i just manually change the datarate before i login

4) Go to indoor zones, Plane of Hate is a good one for less lag..it seems, Veeshan's Peak..thats on and off there i sometimes get bad lag, sometimes i can go to the actual screen outside of inventory and not see lag bar go to 60% lol.

Just try different things, but #1 is the one that i've been using, it's helped me a ton..

Things that cause lag..

1) Hitting a mob and fighting him till he is near death, HUGE lag wait if you are killing first one since entering zone...hope this gets fixed

2) #finditem, #findspell, =Lag, Great way if you wanna go Ld =)

3) Huge Zones (Ovious)

dunno, too many to list....lol

Right click My Computer > Properties > Performance Tab > Network Server (instead of Desktop Computer) ...

Helps a lot.

Also, don't use Datarate 10 unless you at a companies T1 connection hehe. Try to shoot for a target of 6.5-9.0 MAX. Reason being is file transfer is done via TCP so encapsulation problems occur when the datarate is set that high.

Might not all be true, but found them to work.
